Abstract: Upon attempting to design a pharmaceutical preparation by mixing minoxidil with a general thickening agent during a process for considering a minoxidil-containing composition for an agent for external use in which dripping is inhibited, it was discovered that the pharmaceutical preparation would have sediments or would cloud and that a sufficient viscosity of the pharmaceutical preparation could not be obtained. The minoxidil-containing composition for an agent for external use of the present invention is characterized by containing minoxidil (a), a hydroxypropyl cellulose and hypromellose (b), ethanol (c), and water (d). Said composition is clear and has a good feel upon use, and dripping of the composition is inhibited.
