  • Patent number: 8908484
Abstract: In a recording/reproducing device for recording and reproducing an optical disk, when performing verify processing of inspecting a quality of recorded data and compare processing of inspecting whether the recorded data can be read without errors, a time is taken because the same area needs to be reproduced two times. The verify processing and the compare processing are performed at one time reproduction. To perform the verify processing and the compare processing simultaneously, a recording quality storage part is provided in the recording/reproducing device, and reproduced data is transmitted to a host controller while storing quality information at the time of reproduction by an instruction of the host controller. The host controller performs the compare processing by comparing transmitted data and data at the time of recording and inspects the recording quality by acquiring the quality information of a reproduced area from the recording/reproducing device at intervals set in advance.

  • Publication number: 20120236695
Abstract: The optical disk device can stably control an aberration correction lens even when one end of a movable range of the aberration correction lens is set as a reference position. The optical disk device comprises an optical pickup unit including the aberration correction lens and a stepping motor for moving the aberration correction lens, wherein, when an optical disk is inserted into the optical disk device, the aberration correction lens is moved to the reference position within the movable range and near one end thereof, and wherein, when moving the aberration correction lens to the reference position, driving pulses are applied to the stepping motor to press the aberration correction lens against the one end of the movable range, and thereafter a predetermined number of pulses are applied to reversely rotate the stepping motor and to set a stop position where the aberration correction lens stops as the reference position.

  • Patent number: 7940612
Abstract: The present invention provides an optical disc apparatus that reduces access time while suppressing the emanation of heat from a beam expander. A microcomputer manages the operation time and pause time of a stepping motor constructed to move the movable lens of the beam expander, and in accordance with the duration of an immediately previous pause, limits the number of successive stepping-motor driving actions following the pause time, below a maximum permissible count. When the pause duration is shorter than a threshold value or when the number of successive stepping-motor driving actions reaches the maximum permissible count, the microcomputer starts next driving of the stepping motor after a required waiting time.
