    Abstract: An image transfer device includes a transfer unit and a transport unit. The transfer unit that heats a layered body including a recording member, which is flexible and has an image recorded on a recording surface thereof, and a base member, onto which the image on the recording member is to be transferred, to transfer the image recorded on the recording surface onto the base member. The transfer unit transporting the layered body by rotating while being in contact with a back surface of the recording member on a side opposite to the side of the recording surface. The transport unit disposed upstream of the transfer unit in a transport direction of the layered body. The transport unit rotating while being in contact with the back surface of the recording member to transport the layered body to the transfer unit.

    Abstract: An image-forming method includes forming a toner image on the surface of an image carrier, transferring the toner image from the surface of the image carrier onto an image-receiving layer of a belt-shaped intermediate transfer film that is provided on a surface of a base material, superimposing the intermediate transfer film on a surface of a recording medium such that the toner image contacts the surface of the recording medium, fixing the toner image by application of heat and pressure, forming a laminate by pressure-bonding the superimposed intermediate transfer film onto the recording medium by application of heat and pressure, and peeling the base material off the image-receiving layer at the interface therebetween, so that the entire image-forming surface of the recording medium is covered with the image-receiving layer and the image is formed between the recording medium and the image-receiving layer.
