  • Patent number: 11407959
Abstract: Described herein is a process, comprising: a) selecting an API Group II base stock with selected viscosity index and pour point; b) blending a base oil with the base stock, and c) adding to the base oil: i) a liquid ethylene propylene copolymer viscosity modifier that reduces a traction coefficient, and ii) an additive package, to make a driveline fluid that has a defined viscosity index and excellent shear stability. Also provided is a driveline fluid composition having the high viscosity index and excellent shear stability, comprising: a) a base oil comprising from 50 wt % to 100 wt % API Group II base stock; b) a liquid ethylene propylene copolymer viscosity modifier that reduces a traction coefficient; and c) an additive package. Further provided is a method for lubricating an axle or manual transmission by supplying the driveline fluid composition.

  • Publication number: 20200369978
Abstract: The disclosed technology relates to an automotive gear oil, which may be used, for example, in heavy duty manual transmissions and axles, and includes an oil of lubricating viscosity, 1 wt % or less of a dispersant, and at least one boron containing compound.
    Type: Application

    Publication date: November 26, 2020
    Applicant: The Lubrizol Corporation
    Inventor: Tomoya Higuchi
  • Patent number: 10519396
Abstract: A lubricant composition comprising an oil of lubricating viscosity and 0.01 to 5 percent by weight of a substantially sulfur-free alkyl phosphate amine salt, where at least 30 mole percent of the phosphorus atoms are in an alkyl pyrophosphate salt structure, exhibits good antiwear performance, even in the presence of corrosion inhibitor additives. In the phosphate amine salt, at least 80 mole percent of the alkyl groups are typically secondary alkyl groups of 3 to 12 carbon atoms.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 4, 2016
Date of Patent: December 31, 2019
    Assignee: The Lubrizol Corporation
