  • Publication number: 20150247483
Abstract: A first distance between a position where a point-of-action end abuts at a rear end surface of a push-side abutting portion (flat washer) forming a part of holder and a rotational axis of a pinion, and a second distance between a position where the pinion abuts at a front end surface and the rotational axis of the pinion have the relation of first distance>second distance. Thereby, after starting an engine, even when the pinion is rotated at high speed, the push-side abutting portion is less likely to rotate and remains stationary relative to the lever, and even though the push-side abutting portion begins to rotate, it is rotated at a lower speed than the pinion.

  • Publication number: 20150204297
Abstract: A washer is held by being sandwiched in an axial direction by a pinion and a holder. Here, although the washer is inexpensive, it has high planar accuracy. Then, by sandwiching the washer in the axial direction between the pinion and the holder, a metal surface of the inexpensive washer with high planar accuracy can be used as a contacting surface that contacts a holder side slide-contacting surface directly. Furthermore, another metal surface of the washer can also be directly contacted to a pinion side slide-contacting surface. Thereby, wear caused by a slide-contacting rotation of the holder can be reduced without raising costs of parts and processing in the starter that adopts a pinion shift structure.

  • Patent number: 7980150
Abstract: A starter includes a motor, a pinion, a pinion carrier carrying the pinion, a ring member provided on the pinion carrier, a shifting member, and a lubricant blocking member. The ring member is rotatable relative to the pinion carrier and restricted in axial movement toward the pinion. The shifting member has a ring portion that is arranged on the pinion carrier with the ring member interposed between the ring portion and the pinion. The ring portion has an axial end face that has a recess for receiving lubricant and is covered by the ring member. The shifting member is configured to shift, by pushing the ring member with the ring portion, the pinion in the axial direction, thereby bringing the pinion into mesh with a ring gear of an engine. The lubricant blocking member blocks the lubricant from being scattered due to rotation of the pinion carrier with the pinion.

  • Patent number: 7545248
Abstract: A magnet switch which may be employed in automotive engine starters is provided. The magnet switch includes a metallic terminal which extends through a hole formed in a switch cover to have one of ends thereof protruding outside the cover. The other end of the terminal is connected to an exciting coil to energize it to establish an electric connection between contacts. The magnet switch also includes a cylindrical seal and a stopper. The seal is fit on the end of the terminal to hermetically seal a clearance between the hole and the terminal. The stopper provided on the terminal works to stop the seal from moving to the other end of the terminal, thereby ensuring the stability of installation and sealing performance of the seal in the magnet switch.

  • Publication number: 20090072941
Abstract: A bobbin has a primary surface member contacted to an inner periphery of a cylindrical yoke and a secondary surface member which faces the primary surface member. The primary and secondary surface members form an accommodating space part into which a form coil is accommodated. One or more inserting holes are formed in the primary and secondary surface members. The inserting holes correspond to boss parts of a pole core which correspond to coil parts of the form coil. A plurality of nail parts is formed around each inserting hole. An inserting hole is formed in the secondary surface member. When assembling the boss parts of the pole core into the bobbin, the plural nail parts are bent toward the inner direction of the inserting hole, and finally placed between the boss parts and the inner periphery of the coil parts of the form coil.
