  • Publication number: 20080079268
Abstract: The present invention relates to a night latch, in particular a night latch that includes a housing, tumbler, button, and a resilient members. The housing of the present invention maintains the tumbler, button, and resilient members. The housing also may have at least one protrusion located on its sidewall. The tumbler of the present invention has a pivoting member along with a means for housing a resilient member. In addition, the tumbler of the present invention may have a tooth-like member located on its front face, which interacts with a protrusion located on the rear end of lower portion of the button. The lower portion of the button also has a resilient member located on the front end. This resilient member exerts a force that maintains the tumbler in a retracted position.

  • Publication number: 20080012357
Abstract: An automatic sash lock is disclosed having a housing with a top surface and a bottom surface and one or more side surfaces extending from said top surface. The housing has a front face at least a portion of which is open to the interior of the housing. The housing has a tongue movably secured thereto. The tongue has a retracted position and an extended position wherein the tongue extends from the open area of the front face of the housing. The tongue moves from a retracted position to an extended position when a portion of said housing contacts a keeper.

  • Publication number: 20070222234
Abstract: The present invention relates to a night latch in particular a night latch that includes a housing, a tumbler, a button, and one resilient member. The housing, tumbler and resilient member of the present invention all serve the same function and operate in the same manner, as in our previously filed U.S. patent application filed on Mar. 27, 2006, Ser. No. 11/388,786. That is to say the housing houses the members, the tumbler prevents movement of the sliding member, and the resilient member forces the tumbler into an exposed position. In the present invention the improved button forces the tooth-like protrusion into the recess of the tumbler in a similar fashion as in our previously filed patent application. However, unique to the present invention, is a flexible bottom portion integral with the button, which biases the tooth-like protrusion of the button into the recess of the tumbler. Hence, the use of a separate biasing member is unnecessary.

  • Publication number: 20070200355
Abstract: A multi-point door latch adapted to fit in the stile of a door. The multi-point door latch includes a pair of hooks that are allowed to rotably pivot around a pair of eccentric cams. The eccentric cams are allowed to rotate inside of apertures located through the hubs of the hooks. The eccentric cams are geometrically centered inside the hubs of the hooks, and are kept in position via pins that are eccentrically orientated through cams. The multi-point door latch also includes an opening for receiving a turning mechanism. In addition, the turning mechanism is connected to a pair of toothed gear wheels that mesh with a toothed bar. The toothed bar is connected to a synchronizing link which simultaneously rotates the hooks to either an engaged or disengaged position. The multi-point door latch also includes stopping members, which prevent the hooks from rotating passed a certain point when the door latch is not engaged.

  • Patent number: 7257864
Abstract: An improved shoe for a casement window hinge is disclosed. The hinge has a base with a front end and a rear end and two sides. The base has a ridge on the rear end for securing the base to a track and a tongue extending from one of the sides. The tongue has a plurality of teeth extending from a side of the tongue. A gear wheel is adapted to be rotatably secured to a track. The gear wheel has a plurality of teeth about its circumference which mesh with the teeth on the tongue. The rotation of the gear wheel causes the base of the hinge to move longitudinally in relation to the track.

  • Publication number: 20050011131
Abstract: The present invention is directed to an improved vent stop for use in a sliding sash window assembly or a sliding door assembly. The vent stop has a housing adapted to be disposed in the recess. This housing includes a cavity with a bottom plate therein. Inside the cavity is a tumbler that may be in a retracted position and an extended position. When the tumbler is in an extended position the tumbler has a protruding apex at the top. The tumbler has at least one pivot means for pivotally securing said tumbler to said housing for movement between the extended position and the retracted position. In the extended position the bottom of the tumbler overlies a portion of the second sash to prevent movement of the lower sash past the tumbler. When in a retracted position within said cavity the sash or door can be raised and/or moved past the tumbler without interference.
