  • Patent number: 12265708
Abstract: In some implementations, an integrated circuit may receive a read command associated with a data structure of the integrated circuit. The integrated circuit may determine that requested data, of the data structure and associated with an element within the data structure, is not ready for reading. The integrated circuit may output, based on determining that the requested data is not ready for reading, generated delay data. The integrated circuit may determine that the requested data, of the data structure and associated with the element, is ready for reading. The integrated circuit may output, based on determining that the data is ready for reading, the requested data.

  • Publication number: 20070195198
Abstract: Synchronizing a shutter control signal of an optical sensor device of a video gaming system with a horizontal retrace signal generated by a game console of the system such that the frame rate of the optical sensor device is synchronized to the horizontal retrace signal. Synchronizing the frame rate to the horizontal retrace signal eliminates or reduces the occurrence of random stripes in the images captured by the optical sensor device, commonly known as flickering.

  • Publication number: 20060266934
Abstract: The invention provides a method and apparatus for performing optical navigation. The optical navigation apparatus comprises a first light source, a second light source, an optical sensor that converts light into electrical signals, and processing logic. The processing logic is configured to process the electrical signals output by the optical detector to obtain information relating to motion or an absence of motion of the optical navigation apparatus. Based on the motion information obtained, the processing logic turns on the first light source and turns off the second light source, or vice versa. This ensures that, regardless of the tracking surface, the optical navigation apparatus will be using a light source that enables the optical navigation apparatus to operate effectively.

  • Publication number: 20060124839
Abstract: An optical navigation system having an optical navigation integrated circuit (“navigation IC”) is described. The optical navigation system may include an emitter module and a pixel array surrounding the emitter module. The optical navigation system may further include a ring optical system located on the surface of the navigation IC over the pixel array.

  • Publication number: 20050231479
Abstract: Illumination spot alignment is performed by capturing an image by an image array. The image is evaluated to determine an illumination spot size and location. Coordinates identifying the illumination spot size and location are stored.

  • Publication number: 20050151721
Abstract: A system and method for timing image acquisitions provide an optical charge pulse to a sensor within an optical imaging system prior to image acquisitions by the optical imaging system. This optical charge pulse compensates for dark current discharge in the sensor.

  • Publication number: 20050110776
Abstract: A pointing device and method for operating the same is disclosed. The pointing device includes an illumination system, a camera system, and a controller. The illumination system illuminates a surface over which the pointing device moves. The illumination system generates a light level determined by an illumination control signal. The camera records a plurality of images of the illuminated surface. The controller records first and second images taken by the camera at different times and determines a displacement indicative of the direction and distance the positioning device moved between the two different times. The controller also generates the illumination control signal. The illumination control signal depends on at least one of the images recorded by the camera system. In one embodiment, the surface is characterized by a reflectivity and the light level generated by the illumination system is inversely related to that reflectivity.

  • Publication number: 20050099410
Abstract: One embodiment in accordance with the invention relates to detecting a homogeneous surface. A first surface image is received. A plurality of values are generated by performing a plurality of auto correlations with the first surface image and a copy of the first surface image. The plurality of values includes a first peak value. A determination is made as to whether a normalized second peak value of the plurality of values satisfies a defined condition associated with a value. If so, a homogeneous surface image filter is utilized with a second surface image.
