    Abstract: A method of automatically controlling a motor vehicle may involve generating environment data and the data being taken as a basis for determining a concealed region of a field of view. A reference point on a boundary between the concealed region and an unconcealed region of the field of view is determined, and at least two risk zones, each risk zone having the reference point as the centre, may be determined. A risk zone of the risk zones (Sa, Sb, Sc) may be assigned a risk characteristic, and the motor vehicle may be controlled on the basis of the risk characteristics.
