  • Publication number: 20180075452
Abstract: A payment authentication service authenticates the identity of a payer during online transactions. The authentication service of the present invention allows a card issuer to verify a cardholder's identity using a variety of authentication methods, such as the use of passwords. Also, the only system participant requiring a certificate is the issuing financial institution. One embodiment of the invention for authenticating the identity of a cardholder during an online transaction involves querying an access control server to determine if a cardholder is enrolled in the payment authentication service, requests a password from the cardholder, verifies the password, and notifies a merchant whether the cardholder's authenticity has been verified. In another aspect of the invention, a chip card and the authentication service independently generate cryptograms that must match in order for the service to verify that the correct chip card is being used by the cardholder.

  • Publication number: 20180063963
Abstract: The present invention provides stencil-based processes for fan-out wafer-level packaging (“FOWLP”) that addresses the limitations associated with prior art over-molding of dies. In the inventive process, a temporary carrier is coated with a release layer and curable adhesive backing layer. A die stencil film is then laminated to the coated carrier, and the dies are placed inside pre-formed cavities created in the laminated stencil. The gaps between the dies and the stencil are filled with a curable polymeric material, and a redistribution layer is constructed according to conventional processes. This process results in better repeatability, lower bowing in the carrier, and enhanced downstream processing.

  • Publication number: 20180019156
Abstract: Dielectric materials with optimal mechanical properties for use in laser ablation patterning are proposed. These materials include a polymer selected from the group consisting of polyureas, polyurethane, and polyacylhydrazones. New methods to prepare suitable polyacylhydrazones are also provided. Those methods involve mild conditions and result in a soluble polymer that is stable at room temperature and can be incorporated into formulations that can be coated onto microelectronic substrates. The dielectric materials exhibit high elongation, low CTE, low cure temperature, and leave little to no debris post-ablation.

  • Patent number: 9850715
Abstract: A modular compaction boring device. The boring device comprises a compaction boring head which creates a borehole through a subsurface by operation of a thruster and a rear and forward anchor. Extension of the thruster while the rear anchors are engaged move the boring head forward. Retraction of the thruster while the forward anchors are engaged brings the rear anchors forward for an addition stroke. A steering geometry in the boring head and rotation of the boring head allow steering of the boring device. Steering, thrust, and anchors may be controlled remotely through an umbilical cable pulled through the borehole by the boring device.

  • Patent number: 9827740
Abstract: The invention broadly relates to release layer compositions that enable thin wafer handling during microelectronics manufacturing. Preferred release layers are formed from compositions comprising a polyamic acid or polyimide dissolved or dispersed in a solvent system, followed by curing and/or solvent removal at about 250° C. to about 350° C. for less than about 10 minutes, yielding a thin film. This process forms the release compositions into polyimide release layers that can be used in temporary bonding processes, and laser debonded after the desired processing has been carried out.

  • Patent number: 9827757
Abstract: New temporary bonding methods and articles formed from those methods are provided. In one embodiment, the methods comprise coating a device or other ultrathin layer on a growth substrate with a rigid support layer and then bonding that stack to a carrier substrate. The growth substrate can then be removed and the ultrathin layer mounted on a final support. In another embodiment, the invention provides methods of handling device layers during processing that must occur on both sides of the fragile layer without damaging it. This is accomplished via the sequential use of two carriers, one on each side of the device layer, bonded with different bonding compositions for selective debonding.

  • Publication number: 20170332725
Abstract: Sandals with biomechanical foot support, robust usability and cost-effectiveness are disclosed. The footwear may comprise a biomechanical sole and a Y-shaped rubber strap anchored to the sole. The sole has a top surface including a raised contour on the medial side of the sandal, and a low profile heel cup. The raised contour on the medial side and the heel cup match the natural anatomic shape of the foot, and thus provides a biomechanical foot support. The bottom surface of the sole may be a roughed surface to provide necessary traction and friction when a wearer/user walks. The bottom surface further comprises a plurality of grooves to allow water to be expelled and increase traction.

  • Publication number: 20170318899
Abstract: Footwear with enhanced wearing comfortability, stability and orthotic foot support are disclosed. The footwear comprises built-in intrinsic midsole, anatomically shaped footbed having a functional arch concavity on a medial side, and deep heel cup. The built-in intrinsic midsole provides ideal foot support and function. Raised sidewalls accentuate a deep heel cup, which controls and matches the natural anatomic shape of the foot. The midsole is made by direct single density injection with integrated orthotic contour. The direct injection midsole to upper creates a strong bond, and resolves a potential of delaminating soles. Furthermore, it eliminates the need and cost of cementing, and improves instant fit/comfort.

  • Patent number: 9640072
Abstract: A traffic safety system is provided for controlling the entry of motorists onto one way roads. The system has a motion detection unit which identifies the presence of motor vehicles travelling the wrong direction on one way roads, highway exit ramps and entrance ramps. Upon detection of a vehicle, the system activates audible and visual warnings. If the motorist does not stop moving, a barrier will deploy and a camera unit will photograph the license plate of the vehicle before transmitting same to local authorities. Additionally, a set of warming indicators positioned at a far end of the road are provided, which illuminate when the system is deployed, notifying travelers of a road blockage.

  • Publication number: 20170059573
Abstract: A method of detecting peroxynitrite in a sample is described comprising the steps of: (a) providing a complex of a saccharide with an aryl boronate compound of formula (I): Fp-L1-Z-L2-Ar—B(OH)2 (I) wherein: Fp comprises a fluorophore; L1 and L2 are linker groups; Z is a fluorescence switch; and Ar is optionally substituted aryl; (b) contacting said aryl boronate-saccharide complex with said sample, whereby peroxynitrite in said sample cleaves said aryl boronate-saccharide complex to produce a compound of formula (II): F-L1-Z-L2-Ar—OH (II); and (c) detecting a decrease in a fluorescence intensity of said fluorophore resulting from said cleavage reaction in step (b). Peroxynitrite reacts quantitatively, rapidly, and selectively in step (b) of the reaction, whereby medical conditions associated with elevated peroxynitrite can be diagnosed. Also provided are compounds of formula (I) for use in the methods.

  • Patent number: 9472436
Abstract: Multiple bonding layer schemes that temporarily join semiconductor substrates are provided. In the inventive bonding scheme, at least one of the layers is directly in contact with the semiconductor substrate and at least two layers within the scheme are in direct contact with one another. The present invention provides several processing options as the different layers within the multilayer structure perform specific functions. More importantly, it will improve performance of the thin-wafer handling solution by providing higher thermal stability, greater compatibility with harsh backside processing steps, protection of bumps on the front side of the wafer by encapsulation, lower stress in the debonding step, and fewer defects on the front side.
