Abstract: The present invention relates to materials, methods and kits for detecting and identifying glycated species, in particular methods in which glycated species are first labelled and then subjected to a separation step, following which the label may be directly detected.

Abstract: Techniques are described for grouping multiple computing devices into a device set to enable shared audio functionality, or other types of shared functionality, between the devices in the device set. The devices may provide audio output, audio input, or both audio output and input. The devices may discover each other via transmitted radio signals, and the devices may be organized into one or more device sets based on location, supported functions, or other criteria. A voice command received at one device in the device set may be employed to control operations of other device(s) in the device set. Shared audio functionality between devices in a device set may also enable synchronized audio output through using multiple devices in the device set.

Abstract: A voice interaction architecture has a hands-free, electronic voice controlled assistant that permits users to verbally request information from cloud services. Since the assistant relies primarily, if not exclusively, on voice interactions, configuring the assistant for the first time may pose a challenge, particularly to a novice user who is unfamiliar with network settings (such as wife access keys). The architecture supports several approaches to configuring the voice controlled assistant that may be accomplished without much or any user input, thereby promoting a positive out-of-box experience for the user. More particularly, these approaches involve use of audible or optical signals to configure the voice controlled assistant.

Abstract: A computing device is used to acquire data and information regarding various electronic devices within a home, commercial space, or another area of interest. Locations for the electronic devices may also be determined by way of a location resource of the computing device, by user input, or through another suitable technique. Various maps may be generated that include graphical representations of the electronic devices, as well as walls, doorways, furniture, or other features within the area or space of interest. A user may amend or add various details within such a map by way of respective user interfaces presented by the computing device. The respective functions and cooperative operations of the electronic devices may be visualized and improved through such mapping.

Abstract: Described are systems and methods for content-adaptive presentation of content. A presentation profile for use in presentation of content is determined based at least in part on one or more determination characteristics. The determination characteristics may include metadata descriptive of the content, such as genre, style, artist, and so forth. The presentation profile may include equalizer settings, overall amplitude or volume, speaker configuration, and so forth.

Abstract: Materials and methods employing a polymerisable boronic acid species and a polymerisable linker are disclosed for making gels for resolving polyhydric species present in a sample by electrophoresis. The electrophoresis gels are capable of improving the effective separation of polyhydric species, especially those that show similar mobilities in standard electrophoresis or fluorophore-assisted carbohydrate electrophoresis (FACE). The use of template molecules in the reaction to form the electrophoresis gel with the boronic acid species and the polymerisable linker, so that the template molecule becomes incorporated into the electrophoresis gel, is also disclosed. The template molecule provides cavities in the electrophoresis gel that are generally complementary to the template molecule and which are adapted to reversibly interact with one or more of the polyhydric species present in the sample that have structures similar to the template molecule.
