  • Patent number: 5477753
Abstract: A blade sharpening device is convertible between a sharpening configuration and a storage configuration. The device has an elongated body with a lower surface for resting on a support surface and an upper surface with a pair of receiving holes disposed thereon. Each of the receiving holes receives one elongated abrasive sharpening member so that the members can be supported in a V-shaped sharpening pattern when the device is in its sharpening configuration. The body also has a pair of elongated storage chambers extending along the longitudinal length of the body. Each of the storage chambers has an opening disposed on one end of the body. Each of the storage chambers receives one of the sharpening members through its respective opening when the device is in its storage configuration. A cover is pivotally secured to the body at an intermediate location and has an open position corresponding to the sharpening configuration and a closed position corresponding to the storage configuration.

  • Patent number: 4523699
Abstract: This invention is directed to a combination air vent and ice screen for liquid containers. The invention comprises an insert which fits into a liquid beverage container through the opening of the lid and is positioned on the inside of the lid. The insert prevents ice cubes from blocking the flow of liquid by means of a screen at the bottom of the insert. The insert also introduces air into the container by means of a channel which extends along the container opening and laterally along the side of the container lid. When pouring liquid from the container, only liquid passes through the screen while at the same time air is allowed to enter the container through the aforedescribed opening.

  • Patent number: 4372453
Abstract: An insulated beverage container holder is the subject of the present invention. A cylinder support for receiving the container is provided with insulating material, such as rigid foam, or may be of double wall construction to provide thermal insulation. The top of the support is provided with an opening which is eccentric relative to the center of the support. A pivotal cap is received by the support and has an opening which overlies the first mentioned opening. The cap opening is also eccentric relative to the center of the support but is movable from a first position wherein the two openings are in concentric alignment to a non-aligned position. When the openings are aligned, a container may be inserted in the support. Preferably, the openings are large enough to accommodate beverage cans or other containers of different size.

  • Patent number: 4024731
Abstract: A refreezable container for a cold storage structure which can be releasably secured to the lid of the structure is the subject of the present invention. The container comprises yieldable spaced apart sidewalls which form an enclosure for holding a refreezable liquid. A passageway through the enclosure and its sidewalls receives an elongated stud. The stud has a gripping surface at one end and is threaded on the other end. Along the length of the stud a lateral projection extends outwardly so that the combined dimension of the projection and the stud is greater than the corresponding dimension of the passageway. The yieldable passageway walls permit insertion of the stud which may then be turned to screw the threaded stud into a correspondingly threaded receptacle in the lid of the cold storage structure.

  • Patent number: 3962750
Abstract: Hinge construction for joining two relatively movable members. The hinge is particularly adapted for construction from plastics using known molding techniques and for incorporation into plastic molded parts. Identical hinge halves are formed to present, in each half, a planar mounting portion and a hinge tube section. The planar mounting portion is characterized by a peripheral tongue which is received within a peripheral groove of a socket in the respective member. The hinge tube section of each hinge half has opposed protuberances at one end which extend part way along the length of the section and into the tubular opening. When two hinge halves are placed with their tube sections aligned, the latter form a tubular hinge opening. A hinge pin is provided with opposed grooves which are complemental to the protuberances and disposed for alignment with the latter. The hinge pin may thus be inserted into the tubular hinge opening and held therein upon rotation to a nonaligning position.
