    Abstract: A ducted fan gas turbine engine spinner is so configured so as to be generally outwardly flared at its downstream end. The flared portion provides a decrease in the local axial velocity of the air flow over the spinner. This in turn leads to the reduction or elimination of choking in the radially inner region of the fan of the engine.
