    Abstract: The disclosure includes a generator gas shield support device, and method of removing the generator gas shield using the support device. In one embodiment, the generator gas shield support device of a generator system includes a first support coupled to a generator rotor of the generator system. The first support of the generator gas shield support device is configured to releasably couple a first portion of a generator gas shield to the generator rotor of the generator system. The generator gas shield support device may also include a second support releasably coupled to the generator rotor. The second support is configured to support the first portion of the generator gas shield during a rotation of the generator rotor.
