  • Publication number: 20150093815
Abstract: Methods and systems for controlling fluid flow through a cartridge for use in an assay of a fluid sample for detection of a target analyte. In one aspect, the cartridge includes a microfluidic device having a network of microfluidic channels, one or more reservoirs and one or more actuatable valves for controlling fluid flow from the reservoirs through the microfluidic channels. In some embodiments, the valve includes a deformable membrane movable between a closed configuration in which the membrane seals against the microfluidic device inhibiting fluid flow and an open configuration moved away from the microfluidic device to allow fluid flow through the microfluidic channels. Other valve embodiments utilize frangible membranes or user-removable membrane.

  • Patent number: 8995172
Abstract: Embodiments of the invention generally include a method of forming a nonvolatile memory device that contains a resistive switching memory element that has an improved device switching performance and lifetime, due to the addition of a current limiting component disposed therein. In one embodiment, the current limiting component comprises at least one layer of resistive material that is configured to improve the switching performance and lifetime of the formed resistive switching memory element. The electrical properties of the formed current limiting layer, or resistive layer, are configured to lower the current flow through the variable resistance layer during the logic state programming steps (i.e., “set” and “reset” steps) by adding a fixed series resistance in the formed resistive switching memory element found in the nonvolatile memory device.

  • Publication number: 20150089345
Abstract: A server system provided according to an aspect of the present disclosure receives validation rules for fields of a form, and stores the validation rules as metadata in a memory. When values are later received based on the form, the values are validated using the rules in the metadata. Any errors detected are notified to a user system from which the values are received. The values are forwarded to a corresponding application if no errors are detected. According to another aspect, a developer of the application provides an initial set of validation rules prior to the application being deployed at a customer site. The customer then specifies additional rules. The metadata stores both the initial rules and the additional rules. A user interface module validates each received value against any applicable rules present in the metadata.
