  • Publication number: 20160212332
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for super-resolution imaging using 3-axis OIS. A super-resolution image may be created by enabling optical image stabilization (OIS) in three axes using an OIS system on a camera of an image capturing device; capturing an image of a scene using an image sensor of the camera; shifting the image on the image sensor by a predetermined subpixel amount; capturing the subpixel shifted image; and constructing a super-resolution image of the scene using the image and the subpixel shifted image. In one particular implementation, a position sensor may measure a positional drift of the image sensor after capturing the image. Using this measured positional drift, a time sufficient to shift the image sensor by a predetermined subpixel amount may be determined. The OIS may subsequently be disabled in one or two axes for the determined time.

  • Publication number: 20100081005
Abstract: A friction stir welding tool and weld metal structure with plural onion rings, in which the tool is formed on the tool head with three surfaces, which are connected to one another through three spaced surfaces. An eccentrical axis of the tool head deviates from a central axis of the tool handle. One of the three surfaces is a deviation cutting surface which is a flat surface formed by cutting off a wall thickness from one side of an outer peripheral surface of the tool head toward the central axis of the tool handle. Each of the three spaced surfaces is alternately formed with plural notches and plural protrusions. The above welding tool is used to perform a stir friction welding operation to two metals to form the weld metal structure with the same number of onion rings as the protrusions and notches of each of the spaced surfaces.

  • Publication number: 20070052841
Abstract: A range/speed finder can be incorporated into a personal electronic device. In one example, a personal electronic device includes an automatic focus system adapted to focus an image of an object and a processor in communication with the automatic focus system adapted to detect a distance of the object using the automatic focus system. The processor can be adapted to detect a speed of the object and/or a dimension of the object using the automatic focus system. Methods and systems for determining a distance, a dimension, and/or a speed of the object relative to the personal electronic device are also provided.

  • Publication number: 20070041723
Abstract: A compact camera for a cellular telephone is disclosed. A reflector is used to bend a light path of the camera, so as facilitate the use of a longer optical path in thin cellular telephones, while allowing pictures to be taken from the front of the camera. The camera comprises a lens, a imager, and a reflector. The lens, the imager, and the reflector cooperate to define an optical path that is longer than a thickness of the cellular telephone. The use of a longer optical path facilitates the use of optical elements for such functions as variable focusing, zoom and/or image stabilization.

  • Publication number: 20070024155
Abstract: In accordance with an embodiment of the present invention, an electrostatic actuator has a base having a plurality of base pillars formed thereon and has a stage having a plurality of stage pillars formed thereon. The controlled application of voltage signals to the base pillars and/or the stage pillars results in electrostatic force that effects movement of the stage with respect to the base.

  • Publication number: 20060198622
Abstract: A method and system for enhancing the resolution of a camera are disclosed. For example, a single lens can be placed at a predetermined position and the position of a lens assembly can be adjusted so as to enhance the resolution of the camera. The single lens can then be moved so as to effect focusing of the camera while the position of the lens assembly tends to maintain enhanced resolution thereof.

  • Patent number: 6219145
Abstract: An optical profiler is modified in a way which allows it to image a MEMS device at various points during the movement of the MEMS device. The light source is synchronized with a desired movement of the MEMS device. The light source produces pulse at each synchronization period. During each pulse, an interferometric measurement is carried out. So long as the pulse is short enough such that the device does not move significantly, a detection of the position of the device can be accurately obtained.
