Abstract: A fluid-tight sealed container with a lid is manufactured from cardboard, plastic, plastic coated cardboard or the like. The side walls of the container (1) end with a narrow rim in the opening plane of the container, against which the lid (2) is in sealing contact. At least on the portion of the lid (2) being in contact with the container rim the lid is coated with a flowable polymer coating. The rim of the container opening is melted into the polymer material to a depth that ensures sealing but still permits tearing off the lid (2). In order to permit repeated use of the lid it may be provided with a vertical flange portion (4) that is provided with symmetrically arranged bosses (5) on the side facing the side wall faces of the container (1).
