  • Patent number: 6865815
Abstract: An improved utensil for feeding a small child includes a coating of a relatively soft plastic material provided over a rigid base portion that has a relatively high capacity for heat conduction and storage. The relatively soft plastic material is formulated to change color when exposed to a substance, such as food, that is above a predetermined temperature. During use, the presence of the base portion acts as a heat storage reservoir in order to lengthen and delocalize the color change response of the soft plastic material, thereby making the color change response more continuous and more noticeable to the caregiver. Also disclosed is a kit of different utensils that start out as different colors, but that change to a uniform warning color when overheated. The concept of the uniform warning color makes it easier for children and caregivers alike to identify the warning when it occurs.

  • Patent number: 6679409
Abstract: Dispenser for rolls of a web-shaped material, such as paper, said dispenser having space for at least two rolls, at which one space is located adjacent the outlet opening (14) and is intended for a first roll in a use position and the second space is located above the first space and is intended for a roll in standby position. A lock (24, 25;27) is intended to keep the second roll in standby position. The disk plate is spring-loaded (23) and cooperates with the lock such that when a roll is located in place in the disk plate the lock (24, 25;27) prevents the standby roll from falling down.

Abstract: Dispenser for rolls of a web-shaped material, such as paper, said dispenser having space for at least two rolls (16, 17) arranged substantially horizontally, at which one space is located adjacent the outlet opening (14) and is intended for a first roll in a use position and the second space is located above the first space and is intended for a roll in standby position. A locking means (24, 25;27) is intended to keep the second roll in standby position. The first space is provided with a vertically arranged disk plate (18) having a flange (19) intended to grip around one end of the roll and keep it in use position. The disk plate is spring-loaded (23) and cooperates with the locking means in such a way that when a roll is located in place in the disk plate the locking means (24, 25;27) prevents the standby roll from falling down, but when the roll is removed from the disk plate the locking means can be released and permit the standby roll to fall down to use position in the disk plate.

  • Patent number: 6053318
Abstract: The invention is the combination of (i) a self-adhesive bandage having opposed adhesive-coated end portions and a centralized sterile pad, and (ii) a package housing that self-adhesive bandage. The package has a rearward side and a forward side. At least the forward side has a weakened transverse line disposed off-center from the sterile pad portion of the self-adhesive bandage. When the package is pulled axially from gripping locations on opposite sides of the weakened transverse line, the forward side of the package separates at the weakened transverse line, thereby exposing the sterile pad and one adhesive-coated end portion of the self-adhesive bandage.

  • Patent number: 6010002
Abstract: A combination of a planar substrate and a package for housing the planar substrate, such as a self-adhesive bandage, is provided. In the invention, the package is made up of two opposed package portions. One wall of each package portion is elongated so that it can be folded inwardly on itself to provide protection for the opposed adhesive-coated ends of the substrate. By this design, the package can be simply opened by pulling the two package portions apart. The opening of the package also automatically exposes the adhesive-covered ends of the substrate. The user can therefore apply the substrate without ever having to take his or her hands off of the opposed ends of the package. The invention thereby provides a unique package for housing self-adhesive bandages which greatly simplifies the package opening process and which substantially eliminates the danger of contacting the sterile pad portion of the bandage or getting entangled with the adhesive portions of the bandage.

  • Patent number: 5749492
Abstract: A Sheet Dispenser for dispensing of flexible and foldable sheets, such as paper towels and the like from a center fed roll thereof. The Sheet Dispenser of the present invention relies upon a member, such as a plate, which may be in the form of or part of a housing for holding the roll of sheets. The plate member is provided with a lower circular dispensing aperture for receiving a leading strip of the sheets from the center fed roll such that a user may grasp and pull outwardly on the sheets in order to achieve a dispensing of the same. The invention relies upon an opening, such as an elongate slot formed in the plate member and in communication with the dispensing aperture and which allows a leading portion of the sheets to be inserted through the slot and into the dispensing aperture. This construction overcomes the previous problems of feeding a leading strip of the successive sheets in the dispensing aperture.

  • Patent number: 5542922
Abstract: A system for dispensing liquid medicine to an infant includes a baby bottle having a threaded neck portion at an upper end thereof and a rim that defines an opening; a resilient nipple member; and a ring member for holding the nipple member tightly against the rim during feedings. The ring member has threads defined in an interior portion thereof that mate with the threaded neck portion, whereby the ring member may be screwed onto the bottle. A medicine cup that includes a concave cup-like portion is sized to fit within the threaded neck portion of the baby bottle. The medicine cup further includes a flange for supporting the medicine cup on the rim of the baby bottle which is sized so as not to interfere with said ring member during screwing and unscrewing of the ring member onto the baby bottle. The cup-like portion is constructed so as to be impervious to fluid transfer therethrough, so medicine will not leak from the medicine cup into the baby bottle.

  • Patent number: 5102007
Abstract: A dispenser for folded sheet products including a housing accommodating a stack of the products, a dispenser element disposed at the lower end of the housing and having an opening through which the products are serially dispensed, and a blocking member which obstructs the interior of the housing above the stack after the stack has shortened to a predetermined degree to prevent an upward force exerted against the stack from moving the stack from dispensing position.
