Abstract: An electronic report generator includes a processor connected to a memory having data organized in records and variables, and a user interface with a display for displaying symbols in a work area of the display. Each symbol represents a variable of the data. The processor is adapted to receive a command from the user interface for selection of a variable from the displayed variables, selection of a template for definition of the presentation of the selected variables, creation of a report structure in a report area of the display, and selection of the output file type of the report.
