  • Patent number: 8688525
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a context based payment system. Electronic currency or coupons can be made dependent on context, and the context can be one of location or geography, time, date, distance, sound, or other devices. The value of the currency exists only if a pre-condition is fulfilled. For example, if the currency is location dependent, the value only exists in a defined area (currency value area). The goods or the service in the value-system are also context dependent, that is, they can only be sold or offered in a defined area (product value area). Accordingly, if the product value area and the currency value area overlap, a purchase and payment can be made.

  • Publication number: 20120069767
Abstract: The present invention relates to a user device and a method for providing a solution for how to make automatic update of the presence state in a mobile device in a communication service e.g. a buddy list in a chat service. The solution is based on that the user device analyzes the background ‘“noise” 5 (sound) of the audio environment, and utilizes this analysis for determining a presence state of the user of the mobile device.

  • Publication number: 20120023446
Abstract: The invention relates to user access to data sets associated with a digital map via a user terminal. According to the invention the digital map together with data indicators associated with positions on the map and providing data sets are obtained. Here each data indicator is provided with at least one priority setting. A selection of data indicators is then made for the map when it is scaled for presentation via the user terminal and divided into sectors. Each sector comprises a number of neighbouring positions and is associated with a corresponding data indicator threshold defining how many data indicators that are allowed to be presented together with this sector. The selection involves selecting data indicators according to their priority settings and limited by the corresponding data indicator threshold for being presented with each sector. Then the scaled digital map is presented via the user terminal together with the selected data indicators.

  • Patent number: 7969935
Abstract: A broadcast channel, such as a broadcast control channel that carries a short message service, in a GSM/EDGE or similar communication system can be extended with additional timeslots. These additional timeslots can be pointed out in a tree structure, the root of which is in the SMS broadcast channel. • Patent number: 7346110
Abstract: A multi-part fixed codebook includes both individual fixed codebooks for each channel and a shared fixed codebook. Although the shared fixed codebook is common to all channels, the channels are associated with individual lags. Furthermore, the individual fixed codebooks are associated with individual gains, and the individual lags are also associated with individual gains. The excitation from each individual fixed codebook is added to the corresponding excitation (a shared codebook vector, but individual lags and gains for each channel) from the shared fixed codebook.

  • Patent number: 7263480
Abstract: A multi-channel linear predictive analysis-by-synthesis signal encoding method determines (S1) a leading channel and encodes the leading channel as an embedded bitstream. Thereafter trailing channels are encoded as a discardable bitstream exploiting cross-correlation to the leading channel.

  • Patent number: 6393392
Abstract: A multi-channel signal encoder includes an analysis part with an analysis filter block having a matrix-valued transfer function with at least one non-zero non-diagonal element. The corresponding synthesis part includes a synthesis filter block (12M) having the inverse matrix-valued transfer function. This arrangement reduces both intra-channel redundancy and inter-channel redundancy in linear predictive analysis-by-synthesis signal encoding.

  • Patent number: 6321193
Abstract: A channel optimized vector quantization apparatus includes a device for weighting a sample vector x by a weighting matrix A and a device for weighting a set of code book vectors ĉr by a weighting matrix B. Device form a set of distance measures {dw(Ax,Bĉr)} representing the distance between the weighted sample vector Ax and each weighted code book vector Bĉr. Other device form a set of distortion measures {&agr;i(x)} by multiplying each distance measure by a channel transition probability Pr|i that an index r has been received at a decoder when an index i has been sent from an encoder and adding together these multiplied distance measures for each possible index r. Finally device determine an index imin corresponding to the smallest distortion measure &agr;i(x) and represents the sample vector by this index imin.

  • Patent number: 6201960
Abstract: An improved method and system of measuring the perceived speech quality in mobile telecommunications networks is disclosed herein. In an embodiment of the invention, the method uses both radio link parameters and an objective measuring technique performed on received signals to estimate the speech quality perceived by the end-user. A radio link processing stage extracts temporal information from a set of available radio link parameters such as the BER, FER, RxLev, handover statistics, soft information, and speech energy. Concurrently, a speech processing stage is used to process a sequence of original signals and received signals, obtained from the output of a telecommunications system. The signal sequences are processed by an objective measuring technique such as Perceptual Speech Quality Measure (PSQM). The outputs from the radio link processing and speech processing stages are utilized to calculate an estimate for speech quality.

  • Patent number: 6195337
Abstract: In a digital cellular radio communication system, a base station selects a speech/channel encoding mode based on measurements of the local radio environment. The mobile station determines the selected mode by trial decoding possible modes to find the most probable mode and uses the same mode for transmission to the base station on the return link. The coding gain/loss obtained by this mode switching may be used to adjust the output power of transmitters, thereby reducing the overall interference level in the system.
