  • Patent number: 7565080
Abstract: A system and method are described for integrating a fiber optic fixed access network and a fiber optic radio access network. At least one radio unit transmits and receives communications with at least one mobile unit. A first multiplexer transmits and receives the communications with the at least one radio unit and fixed access communications with at least one fixed access subscriber. The first multiplexer is connected to each of the at least one radio unit and to each of the at least one fixed access subscriber using fiber optic connections. Each of the at least one radio unit transmits and receives the communications with the first multiplexer using a wavelength that is different for each of the at least one radio unit and different from that used to transmit and receive the fixed access communications from the at least one fixed access subscriber.

  • Publication number: 20090092109
Abstract: A method and Home IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) Gateway for enabling a non-IMS enabled device within a home network to discover the availability of the Home IMS Gateway. The Home IMS Gateway is interposed at a control plane between a remote network and the non-IMS enabled device. The Home IMS Gateway sends an advertisement message to the non-IMS enabled device advertising the availability of services on the remote network via the Home IMS Gateway.

  • Publication number: 20090083426
Abstract: A method and arrangement in a multimedia gateway connected to a multimedia service network, for providing access to multimedia services for communication devices connected to a private network. The multimedia gateway may include a device database, a communication unit and a logic unit. A service identity is associated with the multimedia gateway and is valid in the multimedia service network. When a session request is received, a session is established on behalf of at least one device in the private network using said service identity and capabilities of said at least one device. Thereby, no individual service identity is necessary for the selected device(s). If the session request is a session invitation of an incoming request, said at least one device is selected based on capability requirements for the session.

  • Publication number: 20080310435
Abstract: A method and IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) gateway for establishing a unicast media session between a media receiver and a media source in an IMS network via a Network Address Translation (NAT) function acting on behalf of the media receiver. A media source controller in the IMS sends a Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) INVITE message to the media receiver to identify the media source. The media receiver obtains NAT bindings for the unicast media session, and the session is established between the media receiver and the media source.

  • Publication number: 20080192756
Abstract: An arrangement and method for relieving the traffic load on an edge node in a broadband Ethernet-based access network, which normally employs traffic separation such that all traffic is routed via the edge node. Peer-to-peer traffic between end users places a large burden on the capacity of the edge node. The edge node identifies peer-to-peer traffic and generates address conversion information for access nodes connected to the end users concerned. The access nodes identify packets forming part of the peer-to-peer connection, modify address information to conceal the address of the source end user from the destination end user, and vice versa, and reroute the packets through the access network to the destination end user without passing through the edge node.

  • Publication number: 20070196060
Abstract: The present invention relates to method and arrangement to minimize excess fiber cable in large-scale point-to-point fiber installations, between equipment ODF, AE located in different equipment cabinets 1, 2. Each cabinet comprises at least one casing 4, 5, which casings are arranged to connect fiber cables with equipment in the cabinets via fan-out fiber cables 6, 7. The method comprises the following steps: Attaching one end of a ribbon fiber cable 3 to a casing 4 that is adherent to a first equipment cabinet 1. Routing of the ribbon fiber cable with a minimum excess length to a casing 5 adherent to a second equipment cabinet 2. Cutting the other end of the ribbon fiber cable 3. Attaching the cut end of the ribbon fiber cable 3 to the casing 5 adherent to the second equipment cabinet 2.

  • Patent number: 7047028
Abstract: A main-remote radio base station system includes plural remote radio units. Fiber costs are significantly reduced using a single optical fiber that communicates information between the main unit and the remote units connected in a series configuration. Information from the main unit is sent over a first fiber path to the remote units so that the same information is transmitted over the radio interface by the remote units at substantially the same time. The main unit receives the same information from each of the remote units over a second fiber path at substantially the same time. Delay associated with each remote unit is compensated for by advancing a time when information is sent to each remote unit. A data distribution approach over a single fiber avoids the expense of separate fiber couplings between the main unit and each RRU.
