Abstract: Propanol derivatives of formula (I) wherein X is a leaving group; R.sub.1 is H or a protecting group; and R.sub.2 is H, and R.sub.3 is a group--CH.sub.2 Y wherein Y is a leaving group; or R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 together form .dbd.CH.sub.2. The propanol derivatives of the formula (I) are useful as multifunctional alkylating agents.

Abstract: O-glycosidic compounds useful for therapy or prophylaxis of a wide variety of diseases, for diagnostic use or as research chemicals. Another object of the present invention is to provide a method for preparing the O-glycosidic compounds.
