Publication number: 20240403829Abstract: The technology described herein identifies a user or user group with relevant experience for a yet to be completed task that is part of a project. The technology described herein improves on past efforts to identify users with relevant experience by considering the project context of an active task and a collaboration history of the user or user group. The technology builds a project-context oriented task description that includes the task description of the active task along with the task descriptions of other tasks within the project. The project-oriented task description is used to generate a vector embedding, which are used to identify similar tasks. Once a similar task is identified, the user or user group associated with the similar task are candidates to provide relevant experience. A collaboration network may be used to identify users who worked together previously on a task or project.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 30, 2023Publication date: December 5, 2024Inventors: Torbjørn HELVIK, Aleksander TORSTENSEN

Publication number: 20240249243Abstract: Methods, computer systems, computer-storage media, and graphical user interfaces are provided for facilitating generation of item insights. In embodiments, an insight request requesting an item insight(s) is obtained. Thereafter, a collaboration network insight associated with an item of content is determined. The collaboration network insight may indicate a collaboration network that includes content items related to one another and entities associated with the set of content items. An item context insight associated with the item of content may also be determined. The item context insight can indicate a status change of the item of content relative to a most recentuser view of the item of content. Based on generation of the collaboration network insight and the item context insights, such insights can be provided in association with the item of content for display.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 2, 2023Publication date: July 25, 2024Inventors: Torbjørn HELVIK, Mohamed Abdelwahab Mohamed WAHBALLAH, Shibashankar SAHOO, Gideon Keprono SONOIYA, Natalia AN, Fabien Jérémy Louis VAVRAND, Zhifei MAO, Alina ASTRAKOVA, Thor Niclas Åke KJÄLL-OHLSSON, lgor POPOV, Mustafe Ahmed FARAH, Andreas Schmidt JENSEN

Publication number: 20240144042Abstract: A candidate virtual team is generated using a team prediction model. The team prediction model is trained based on user feedback. Activity data of a user is collected, the activity data is associated with activities in which the user and a set of other users have engaged. A candidate virtual team associated with the collected activity data is generated using a team prediction model and the candidate virtual team is presented to the user using an interface. User feedback data associated with the generated candidate virtual team is received from the user. The team prediction model is trained using the received user feedback data, whereby accuracy of future generated candidate virtual teams generated by the team prediction model is improved during the training. The training of the team prediction model based on user feedback improves the generation of virtual teams over time.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 1, 2022Publication date: May 2, 2024Inventors: Torbjørn HELVIK, Vikramjeet Singh JASSAL, Mohammadreza BONYADI, Andreas Schmidt JENSEN, Lene C. Publication number: 20240111958Abstract: Techniques are disclosed for assisting users with unknown topics by automatically presenting information associated with the unknown topics to the users. In an example embodiment, an unknown topic is referred to or discussed during a conversation between multiple users. A candidate definition for the topic is determined, where the candidate definition is known by the user that used the topic. Based on a determination that the topic and the candidate definition are unknown to a second user in the conversation, the topic and the candidate definition are provided to one or more output devices for presentation to the second user.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 7, 2023Publication date: April 4, 2024Applicant: Microsoft Technology Licensing, LLCInventor: Torbjørn HELVIK

Publication number: 20240086799Abstract: The disclosed technology is generally directed to detecting terminology understanding mismatch candidates. In one example of the technology, input content is received. Topics associated with the input content are identified. For each identified topic, topic information that corresponds to the identified topic is obtained. People associated with the input content are identified. For each identified person, person information that corresponds to the identified person is obtained. Based on the obtained topic information and the obtained person information, for each identified person: a level of proficiency of the identified person in each of the identified topics is determined. For each of the identified topics, whether the determined level of proficiency of the identified person meets a threshold that is associated with the identified topic is evaluated. For each determined level of proficiency that does not meet the threshold that is associated with the identified topic, a remedy is suggested.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 14, 2022Publication date: March 14, 2024Inventors: Torbjørn HELVIK, Jon MELING, Jan-Ove Almli KARLBERG

Publication number: 20230385769Abstract: Examples of the present disclosure describe systems and methods for notifying users of content creation related to existing content expertise. In examples, content associated with a data domain is evaluated to determine the topics associated with the content. User activity for the data domain is monitored to determine user knowledge levels on various topics. User collaboration circles are determined based on interactions between users. When new content is detected, topics in the new content are evaluated and users having knowledge on the topics are identified based on the determined knowledge levels. The users having knowledge on the topics are ranked based in part on their collaboration circles. At least a portion of the ranked users having knowledge on the topics are notified of the new content creation and/or the users creating the new content are notified of the ranked users having knowledge on the topics.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 25, 2022Publication date: November 30, 2023Applicant: MICROSOFT TECHNOLOGY LICENSING, LLCInventors: Torbjørn Helvik, Jan-Ove Karlberg, Jon Meling

Patent number: 11822560Abstract: Users are most likely to search for documents “around” them, such as documents which are created, read, or modified by other users they work closely or collaborate with, documents on sites the user frequents, and/or documents trending around them, in addition to documents they've created or interacted with themselves. Therefore, embodiments are directed to relevance ranking of query results based on external context. A search service may receive a query and an external context list, determine a relevance value for each entry in the external context list, and perform the query, where a search index comprising items may be returned in response to performance of the query. The search service may then match entries in the external context list against associated properties of the items, compute a score for the items based on the matching, and rank results of the query based on the score computed for the items.Type: GrantFiled: July 13, 2020Date of Patent: November 21, 2023Assignee: MICROSOFT TECHNOLOGY LICENSING, LLCInventors: Michael Taylor, Torbjorn Helvik, Oystein Fledsberg, Lars Hagen

Patent number: 11657060Abstract: An analysis application utilizes interactivity signals to generate relationships and promote content. One or more interactivity applications, such as a social networking application, are queried to retrieve interactivity signals. Interactivity signals include an interaction pattern that indicates a relationship between a user and relations of the user. A relationship graph is constructed based on the interactivity signals. Content associated with a user is promoted based on the relationship graph. A weight of the interactivity signals is adjusted to improve a ranking of the relationship graph and a ranking of the content.Type: GrantFiled: February 27, 2014Date of Patent: May 23, 2023Assignee: Microsoft Technology Licensing, LLCInventors: Hakon Brugard, Rune Devik, Stein Arild Jakobsen, Roger Hansen, Michael Taylor, Magnus Mortensen, Bjornstein Lilleby, Fredrik Holm, Erlend Jensen, Torbjorn Helvik, Vidar Vikjord
