  • Patent number: 9268742
Abstract: The invention addresses the problem of parameter optimization for best filter performance and, in particular, the influence from the requirements on radio or fiber to radio repeaters utilizing those filters, that often proves to be conflicting for an FIR filter. The FIR filters are implemented in a programmable circuit and are not thereby restricted for use in communication repeaters although this particular usage may put the most serious restrictions on the filter performance. Within the imposed constraints, this disclosure illustrates a method to strike a middle ground while minimizing the trade-offs. The advantage of the concept presented allows the choice of a suitable filter pertaining to a particular traffic configuration, meaning a particular choice of individually filtered frequency bands set at different gain and intended to support a diversity of traffic formats. The disclosed approach banks on the reconfigurable variable length FIR filter architectures.

  • Patent number: 7769391
Abstract: The present invention relates in general to the radio communications field and, in particular, to a method and apparatus for detecting congestion in a spread spectrum Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) cellular communication system. By measuring the number of Signal-to-Interference Ratio Error reports being received at the Radio Network Controller a potential congestion can be detected in the cell when the number of reports being received is above a threshold. Further can a differentiation be made between a potential or a serious congestion and different actions be performed dependant on if a potential or a serious congestion is detected.

  • Patent number: 6657174
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of increasing the range of air defense and artillery shells of the type which for reasons of firing technology have a rear surface which is at right angles to the shell axis, i.e. most conventional air defense and artillery shells. The invention also includes a design of air defense and artillery shells that corresponds with the said method. The invention is characterized by the rear surface of the shell which at the time of firing is at right angles to the shell axis being reformed to an aerodynamically more advantageous form (5, 9) when it has left the gun barrel and is on the way to the target.

  • Patent number: 6429739
Abstract: A power amplifier has a feedback loop to control the signal level thereof. A current sensing amplifier in the feedback loop is controlled to remove any offset. The input signal is compared with a reference level. When the input signal is below the reference level, an offset compensation value for the current sensing amplifier is stored. When the input signal is above the reference level, the previously stored offset compensation value continues to be applied. The circuit is of particular application in a TDMA radio transmitter.

  • Patent number: 6300745
Abstract: A method in charging a battery powered device (10) having a built-in charge control circuit (13) controlled by the device, and an apparatus for working the method, including said device. The device including the battery (11) is connected to a battery charger (17), and initially when the battery voltage is too low to initiate normal charging of the battery over the charge control circuit, the battery is connected to the battery charger via a current generator (25) which is switched off when the battery voltage has increased to a level which is high enough to support normal charging of the battery over the charge control circuit.

  • Patent number: 6112105
Abstract: The invention provides a battery identification arrangement, a battery equipment (120) suitable for identification and a battery identification method for implementation in an electronic equipment (110) such as a mobile station or a charger with a battery (13). The present invention also relates to a method to measure the temperature of a battery (13) connected to an electronic equipment (110). The battery identification arrangement includes both a measurement circuit (1) of the electronic equipment (110) and a battery circuit (14) of a battery equipment (120). On identifying, means in the measurement circuit (1) measure at least one identification voltage (Vid) which is generated by dividing a battery voltage (Vbat) into a division ratio by means of in series connected resistors (R1, R2) connected to ground (12). The resistors (R1, R2) are connected to the battery (13) only during measurement of the identification voltage (Vid) and the battery voltage (Vbat).

  • Patent number: 6011385
Abstract: A device for controlling a current to a load by means of mirroring is described. Two transistor units are connected to a common reference point. By driving a current through one of the transistor units, a corresponding current is generated in the second transistor unit. A control unit, connected between the transistors can regulate a voltage difference between transistors. Accordingly, the size of the load attached is determined through mirroring with accuracy and minimal power loss.
