Patent number: 8028656Abstract: The present invention relates to devices and components for milking apparatus, in particular to milk extracting devices. Especially it relates to components of such devices such as liners (20). The novel devices include a material, selected from the group consisting of thermo-plastic elastomers, as defined in ISO 18064, plasticized PVC, Vinyl TPE, the material exhibiting the following properties: a hardness between 25 shore A and 50 shore D; a Young's modulus between 0.1 MPa and 50 MPa; a tensile strength above 0.5 MPa; and a minimum elongation of 50% without breakage.Type: GrantFiled: December 19, 2003Date of Patent: October 4, 2011Assignee: DeLaval Holding ABInventors: Mikael Gisslegård, Torbjörn Pettersson, Johan Odeberg, Nils Älveby, Martin Bellander

Patent number: 7856942Abstract: A milking device includes at least a teat-receiving flexible sleeve, adapted to be positioned on/over a teat. A first portion thereof includes a material, selected from the group consisting of thermo-plastic elastomers (TPE), as defined in ISO 18064, and a second portion thereof includes a material selected from the group consisting of thermoplastics. The method of making a milking device, in particular a teat cup liner, is a molding process carried out in two or more steps. In the first step, a thermoplastic, preferably polypropylene (PP) or polyamide (PA), is injected in a mold defining only those portions of the device that are to exhibit a higher stiffness or rigidity, such as couplings. The stiffer parts, are demolded from the mold, and placed in a second mold, into which, as a second molding step, a suitable TPE is injected. Further steps can be performed if required by the design.Type: GrantFiled: June 1, 2005Date of Patent: December 28, 2010Assignee: DeLaval Holding ABInventors: Torbjorn Pettersson, Jan Kassibrahim, Johan Odeberg

Patent number: 5765599Abstract: A hose (24) constitutes a part of a milking machine and has an end portion (30) which is radially expanded and applied on a tubular nipple (29), the outer diameter of which exceeds the inner diameter of the hose. The milking machine includes structure for providing a negative pressure in the hose. The hose is reinforced by including at least one elongated reinforcement member (25), (26) which consists of material substantially harder than the wall of the hose and which extends along the hose in a helical cavity in the wall of the hose. In addition, the reinforcement member completely fills up the cavity and is arranged therein, such that relative movement between the reinforcement member and the wall of the hose is allowed.Type: GrantFiled: July 25, 1995Date of Patent: June 16, 1998Assignee: Alfa Laval Agri International ABInventors: Hans Hernvall, Torbjorn Pettersson

Patent number: 5090359Abstract: A milking apparatus comprises a teat cup (2) with a liner (3), means (6-8, 9-11, 13-15) for subjecting the interior of the liner to a pressure which is lower than atmospheric pressure, and for subjecting the pulsation chamber (5) formed between the teat cup and the liner to a pulsating pressure varying between a low pressure and a high pressure, which high pressure is higher than the pressure in the interior of the liner. Means are provided (12, 16, 18) for controlling the respective pressures in the liner and the pulsation chamber. A flow sensing member (17) senses the flow of the milk which during milking increases to a main flow, then amounts to the main flow, and diminishes from the main flow in a terminating phase of milking.Type: GrantFiled: August 31, 1990Date of Patent: February 25, 1992Assignee: Alfa-Laval Agriculture International ABInventors: Torbjorn Pettersson, Benny rnerfors
