Publication number: 20180209236Abstract: A method for conducting a subsea well intervention at a subsea well, and a related system. In particular embodiments, an assembly is provided comprising a wireline drum pressure container unit, a lubricator package having a lock chamber tube enclosing a tool string and having at least one valve in a vertical bore, and a connector used to connect the assembly to a well control package on a well head of the well. In such an embodiment, the method can include displacing well fluid in a cavity between the valve of the lubricator package and a valve of the well control package, using a clean fluid, while the valve of the lubricator package is closed. The assembly can then be disconnected from said well control package at the connector and retrieved to the surface, whereby contamination of seawater due to disconnection can be reduced or minimized.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 19, 2015Publication date: July 26, 2018Applicant: CapWell ASInventors: Morten Talgø, John Helvik, Tore Aarsland

Patent number: 9828813Abstract: A fiber composite rod intervention cable includes a central electrical cable portion; a bonding layer; a generally unidirectional carbon fiber composite mantle layer; a protective, balanced braided fiber composite layer. The central electrical cable portion includes a generally central electrical conductor with a first cross-section conductive area; an inner insulation layer on the central electrical conductor; and a coaxial electrical conductor layer having a second cross section conductive area equal to the first cross-section conductive area. The fiber composite rod intervention cable is arranged for being injected into a well from a drum unit via an injection unit at the wellhead and may carry an intervention tool, a logging tool, a well tractor with or without an energy source.Type: GrantFiled: October 18, 2012Date of Patent: November 28, 2017Assignee: C6 TECHNOLOGIES ASInventors: Wenting Zhang, Tore Aarsland

Patent number: 9482064Abstract: A drum unit for an intervention string for a well includes a drum with a drum axis and with a radius, arranged in a structural frame and rotatable by a motor and a tension compensator. The tension compensator includes a guide arch displaceable in a direction generally along the intervention string, orthogonal to the drum axis, using a first force device connected to the structural frame for keeping the intervention string in tension. At least a first end of the guide arch is laterally displaceable in a direction generally orthogonal to the intervention string, parallel with the drum axis. The intervention string runs between the guide arch to or from the first end to the drum. The intervention string runs via a second, opposite end of the guide arch via a second, fixed guide at the structural frame, directly or indirectly to or from the well.Type: GrantFiled: May 30, 2013Date of Patent: November 1, 2016Assignees: C6 TECHNOLOGIES AS, STIMLINE ASInventors: Tore Aarsland, Mads Bjørnenak, Kenny Armstrong, Erik Zachariassen

Patent number: 9458684Abstract: A petroleum well injection system is provided for an intervention cable with a well tool ran into or out of a well during a well operation. The system includes a blow out valve BOP connected to a well head at a well, a lock chamber at the BOP arranged to contain the well tool before and after the well operation, an injector for the intervention cable, with drive belts driven by an electric motor, and a sensor for measuring the injector force or the tension that the drive belts applies to the intervention cable, a guide arch at the injector, wherein the intervention cable runs taut over the guide arch to a first end of the closed bending restrictor channels, a guide arch load cell arranged to measure the backward tension between an intervention cable the first end of the bending restrictor channel, and wherein the other end of the bending restrictor channel is connected to a drum frame with a motor running a drum for the intervention cable.Type: GrantFiled: March 10, 2014Date of Patent: October 4, 2016Assignee: C6 TECHNOLOGIES ASInventors: Kenny Armstrong, Tore Aarsland

Patent number: 9228395Abstract: A conduit device for a petroleum well intervention string includes a first end connected to an intervention string drum unit with a drum and a second end connected to an injector head of a wellhead assembly. The conduit device, at any point between said first end and said second end, has a radius of curvature larger than or equal to a given smallest allowable radius of curvature for the intervention string. The conduit device forms a substantially incompressible fixed length path for the portion of said intervention string at any time present between the first end and the second end. The conduit device constitutes a tubular path for the intervention string.Type: GrantFiled: December 21, 2012Date of Patent: January 5, 2016Assignee: C6 TECHNOLOGIES ASInventors: Kenny Armstrong, Tore Aarsland, Mats Bjørnenak

Patent number: 9169102Abstract: A drum unit for an intervention string for a well includes a drum with a radius for the intervention string, arranged in a structural frame and rotatable by a motor, the drum being arranged translating along a drum axis and driven by a translation motor, for controlled winding of the intervention string onto the drum relative to a first, fixed guide in the structural frame. A compensator includes a guide arch, the guide arch being displaceable in a direction orthogonal to the drum axis using a force device at the structural frame. The intervention string runs between the guide arch and the first fixed guide to or from a first end of the guide arch to the drum. The intervention string runs via a second, opposite end of the guide arch via a second, fixed guide at the structural frame, to or from the well.Type: GrantFiled: December 21, 2012Date of Patent: October 27, 2015Assignees: C6 Technologies AS, Stimline ASInventors: Mads Bjørnenak, Kenny Armstrong, Tore Aarsland, Erik Zachariassen, Rune Moen
