  • Patent number: 10022729
Abstract: A method is provided for continuously clarifying a flowable suspension with a discontinuously solid-discharging—self-discharging—separator, which has a rotatable drum with a vertical axis of rotation, a feed for the suspension to be clarified and at least one liquid discharge for continuously discharging at least one clarified liquid phase, and discontinuously openable solid-discharge openings for discontinuously discharging the solid phase. The method involves a) measuring one or more of the suspension parameters mass, mass of solid substance in the suspension, mass flow, temperature, density, cumulative density; and b) initiating a time-limited discharge of solid substance as a result of a repeated determination on the basis of step a) in the event of or after the exceeding of a limit value.

  • Publication number: 20150152518
Abstract: A method for centrifugal reprocessing of a solids-containing emulsion formed during the hydrometallurgical recovery of a metal involves performing the reprocessing in at least one decanter to form a first lighter liquid phase, a second liquid phase, and a solids phase. An actual value of the density of the first liquid phase is determined, the actual value is compared with a desired value for the density of the first liquid phase, and the outlet pressure of the first liquid phase is set in dependence upon the determined actual value/desired value comparison.

  • Patent number: 8523749
Abstract: A three-phase solid bowl screw centrifuge includes a rotatable drum, a screw arranged in the drum, a solid material discharge located at the fist axial end of the drum, and two liquid outlets are located at a second axial end of the drum. A first of the liquid is for a lighter liquid phase and a second of the liquid outlets is for a heavier liquid phase. One of the liquid outlets includes a skimmer disk arranged in a skimmer chamber and the other of the liquid outlets is formed as an overflow. Two regulating disks are located in the front of the skimmer disk. The regulating disks extend radially from an outside of the drum toward an inside of the drum. A siphon disk extends between the regulating disks and into the skimmer chamber from a interior circumference of the skimmer chamber to an exterior circumference of the skimmer chamber. An annular chamber is formed during an operation and is located between the siphon disk and the skimmer disk.

  • Patent number: 8444541
Abstract: A solid-bowl screw centrifuge includes a rotatable drum having a horizontal axis of rotation, which drum surrounds a centrifuging space. Further included is a screw which is arranged within the drum, the screw being rotatable at a different speed relative to the drum. Further included is at least one liquid discharge sealed from its surroundings and at least one solid discharge in a tapering region of the drum. Also included is an immersion disk on the screw which disk lies between a liquid feed and the solid discharge and divides the centrifuging space into a discharge space between the immersion disk and the solid discharge, and a separation space between the immersion disk and the liquid discharge. The centrifuge includes a device for charging the separation space with a gas. A process for operating for the solid-bowl centrifuge is also disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20100105536
Abstract: A three-phase solid bowl screw centrifuge has a rotatable drum (1) and a screw (2) arranged in the drum (1). In this case, at least one solid material discharge is arranged at one axial end of the drum (1) and at least two or more liquid outlets for liquid phases of different densities—a lighter liquid phase and a heavier liquid phase—are arranged at its other axial end. The one liquid outlet also has a skimmer disc and the other liquid outlet is formed as an overflow weir, the skimmer disc being preceded by two regulating discs (11, 12) of the same inside diameter, which extend radially from the outside inwards and between which there enters a siphon disc (13), which in the skimming chamber (10) extends from the inner circumference of the latter outwards. This has the effect of forming an annular chamber (14), which is assigned a means for changing the pressure in the annular chamber (14).
