Abstract: A knitting stitch holder assembly includes an elongated rod for holding stitches and a pair of detachable end retainers that prevent the stitches from inadvertently slipping off the ends of the rod. Formed about and in each of the opposite ends of the rod is an annular groove. The end retainers include resilient yieldable elements, such as detents or tabs, that extend within and engage the grooves to detachably secure the retainers on the opposite ends of the rod. Since both end retainers are detachable, stitches may be removed from either of the opposite ends of the elongated rod.
