  • Patent number: 9320646
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention may allow each of the surgical steps of a surgical procedure to be defined and associated with a function of the surgical console using a GUI. The defined surgical procedure can then be saved and later invoked by a user of the surgical console to conduct the surgical procedure. When the saved surgical procedure is invoked representations of the defined surgical steps are displayed to the user using a GUI so the user can conduct the surgical procedure by navigating through the representations of the surgical steps such that when a representation of a surgical step is selected the surgical console is configured according to the functionality associated with that surgical step.

  • Publication number: 20080003555
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide a system and method useful in setting up a complex ophthalmic surgical instrumentation and consumables associated therewith. One embodiment is directed to a surgical system capable of displaying a video showing setup instructions corresponding to a consumable or a consumable pack. Each pack may contain one or more consumables. Once a consumable is scanned, selected, or otherwise identified, the surgical system may operate to query a database to obtain Directions For Use (DFU) and other data associated with the consumable, update pack settings accordingly, and provide setup instructions in various modes, including the Wizard. The Wizard provides setup instructions (e.g., visual, audio, text, etc.) one step at a time and displays the next step in a pre-defined setup sequence only when the preceding step has been correctly and successfully completed.

  • Publication number: 20020193913
Abstract: A method and system for controlling environmental conditions, such as lighting. The lighting system provides an architecture that includes a scene description data structure. A scene defines one or more circuits and a target state for the lights on those circuits. The scene description data structure specifies circuits within a scene and specifies a target state for the lights on those circuits within a scene. The lighting system provides a lighting gateway that retrieves and provides scene descriptions to assist in generating a user interface for enabling scenes, and that receives requests to enable scenes and then requests a lighting controller to enable the target state for each circuit within the scene. Each space (e.g., area or room) within the environment has a lighting component that provides a standard programmatic interface to the control the lights from a space.
