  • Publication number: 20040162536
Abstract: An absorbent article, preferably a disposable absorbent article such as a diaper, is disclosed that provides an improved immobilization of absorbent polymer material when the article is fully or partially urine loaded. This absorbent core is useful for providing an absorbent article of increased wearing comfort. Specifically disclosed is an absorbent core useful for an absorbent article comprising a substrate layer and absorbent material, the absorbent material comprising an absorbent polymer material, the absorbent material optionally comprising absorbent fibrous material, the absorbent fibrous material not representing more than 20% of the weight of absorbent polymer material, wherein the absorbent material is immobilized when wet such that the absorbent core achieves a wet immobilization of more than 50%, preferably of more than 60%, 70%, 80% or 90% according to the Wet Immobilization Test described herein.

  • Patent number: 6642430
Abstract: The invention is a method applying a foamable movement obstruction agent to an absorbent article which comprises superabsorbent material. The foamable agent can be applied before, after, or simultaneously to creation of the foam structure, and can be applied to the article directly or to a carrier substrate to then be combined with the article.

  • Patent number: 6610899
Abstract: An absorbent member and a method for forming the absorbent member. A web comprising a fibrous material and superabsorbent material is fed to an applicator. The web has a first side edge and a second side edge. A superabsorbent material movement obstruction agent is applied to the web from the applicator in discrete, spaced apart, continuous zones. The web is then cut through said superabsorbent material movement obstruction agent zones into individual absorbent members having a pair of opposing cut ends.

  • Patent number: 6562168
Abstract: A web including a fibrous material and superabsorbent material is fed to a station. The web has a first surface, a second surface, a first side edge and a second side edge. At the station, the operation of applying a superabsorbent material movement obstruction agent and cutting the web into individual absorbent members having a pair of opposing cut ends are carried out simultaneously.

  • Patent number: 6391389
Abstract: A web (110) including a fibrous material and superabsorbent material is fed to a knife (120). The web (110) has a first surface, a second surface, a first side edge and a second side edge. The knife (120) cuts the web (110) into individual absorbent members having a pair of opposing cut ends. The individual absorbent members have a first surface, a second surface, a first side edge, a second side edge, a first end edge and a second end edge, with the first and second end edges corresponding to the cut ends. A flowable superabsorbent movement obstruction agent (122) is applied to the cut ends.
