  • Patent number: 12241945
Abstract: Systems, apparatuses and methods may provide for a frangible sensor assembly that includes a circuit board having a retained section, a frangible portion, and a detachable section separated from the retained section by the frangible portion, a conductive element on the retained section that spans the frangible portion, and a sensor sub-assembly electrically coupled to the conductive element. The sensor sub-assembly monitors a continuity signal via the conductive element, detects a break of the frangible portion based on the continuity signal, and generates an alert notification in response to the break of the frangible portion.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 28, 2022
Date of Patent: March 4, 2025
    Assignee: The Boeing Company
Inventors: Torsten Mack, Douglas Allyn Miller

  • Patent number: 11726480
Abstract: Aircraft guidance with transmitting beacons is disclosed. An example apparatus includes a transceiver of an aircraft to receive signals from deployed beacons, a signal analyzer to analyze the signals to determine distances of the respective beacons relative to the aircraft, and a position calculator to calculate a positional zone of the aircraft based on the distances.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 7, 2020
Date of Patent: August 15, 2023
    Assignee: Insitu, Inc.
Inventors: Rolf Rysdyk, Torsten Mack, Mohammad Ehsan Nasroullahi

  • Patent number: 11101557
Abstract: A mechanically steered, horizontally polarized, directional antennae for aerial vehicles, such as UAVs. The antenna system can include a planar substrate with a horizontally polarized antenna embedded therein. A rotation member, on one end, can be attached to the planar substrate, and can extend from an external surface of the aerial vehicle. An actuator can be coupled to the rotation member to rotate the rotation member. A communication controller of the aerial vehicle can control the actuator to beam horizontally polarized radiofrequency (RF) waves to a target receiver or receive a wave front from a target transmitter.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 27, 2020
Date of Patent: August 24, 2021
    Assignee: Insitu, Inc.
    Inventors: Torsten Mack, Peter Kunz
