  • Patent number: 7047323
Abstract: A drive apparatus is provided, which is connected via a serial bus to a personal computer. An identification process is performed for identifying the drive apparatus when the serial bus is initialized. Also, the drive apparatus includes a connection-detection unit, a mount-detection unit, and a bus-reset unit. The connection-detection unit detects whether or not the drive apparatus is connected to the personal computer via the serial bus. The mount-detection unit detects whether or not a recording medium is mounted in the drive apparatus while the connection is established. The bus-reset unit resets the serial bus after the recording medium is mounted.
