  • Patent number: 8482754
Abstract: An image processing apparatus has a large number of image processing functions, in which resources necessary for code processing units can be suppressed while a large-scale decline in performance is prevented. The apparatus includes code processing units for executing coding and decoding of image data, and request-source task units (print function, scanner function and FAX transceive function), which request any one of the code converters to perform code conversion of image data. The number of request-source task units is greater than the number of code converters and a degree of priority has been set for each one. A determination unit always assigns the code converting units to processing requests from request-source task units having a high priority and, if there is an idle code converting unit, assigns the code converting unit to a processing request from a request-source task unit having a low priority.

  • Patent number: 8068246
Abstract: An image processing apparatus comprising an local interface and a network interface and capable of transmitting an image data to a host apparatus with ease. A local I/F management section and a network I/F management section are prepared, and when image data read by a scanner control section is to be transmitted via the interfaces, activated states of the local interface and the network interface are detected. In case the local interface only is in an activated state, image data is transmitted to a host apparatus connected to the local interface, without the host selection by a predetermined user interface means according to a predetermined key operation, while in case the network interface is in an activated state, image data is transmitted to the host apparatus selected by the host selection by the user interface means according to the predetermined key operation through the local interface or network interface.

  • Patent number: 7894091
Abstract: An apparatus is capable of executing a facsimile communication using an Error Correction Mode (ECM) function based on a facsimile procedure with a communication partner connected via an Internet Protocol (IP) network. In response to receiving, from the communication partner via the network, a communication start request including information indicating a transport protocol for use in the communication, if the apparatus determines that the transport protocol for use in the communication does not have the error correction function, the apparatus sends to the communication partner a notification indicating that the apparatus is capable of executing the communication using the ECM function. Otherwise, if the apparatus determines that the transport protocol for use in the communication has the error correction function, the apparatus sends to the communication partner a notification indicating that the apparatus is incapable of executing the communication using the ECM function.
