  • Publication number: 20130333228
Abstract: In a portable cutting tool configured to perform a cutting operation through movement along the upper surface of a workpiece, when an ordinary inner rotor type motor is used as the drive source, the motor is rotated at high speed to obtain a high output, which is reduced in speed by a speed reduction device to thereby secure an appropriate rotational speed for a rotary cutter. Since the electric motor is rotated at high speed in this construction, there have been problems of noise, vibration, etc. The present invention aims to achieve a reduction in the noise and vibration of the cutting tool.

  • Patent number: 7918030
Abstract: Cutting tools (1) may include a lighting device (5). The lighting device may be mounted on a tool unit (3) adjacent to a grip portion (26). Preferably, the grip portion serves to protect the lighting device from being damaged by an external force. The tool unit may include a motor case (21) for accommodating a motor. The grip portion may extend from the motor case and the lighting device may be mounted on or within the motor case. The tool unit may further include a blade case (20) that at least partly covers a cutting blade (22). The blade case may be joined to the motor case via a joining portion J defined on the motor case. In this case, the lighting device is preferably disposed proximal to the joining portion. The lighting device may include at least a first light (5a) and a second light (5b) that are arranged and constructed to illuminate different areas.

  • Publication number: 20100116112
Abstract: It is an object of the invention to improve a precision of cutting operation for a cutting machine. Representative cutting machine includes a tool body with a blade and a base having an opening through which part of the blade protrudes downward. A blade cutting direction indicating member is provided on a front end of the base in a direction of movement of the base and can be adjusted in mounting position with respect to the base. The blade cutting direction indicating member also adapted as a blade positioning member for positioning the blade with respect to a cutting line marked on the workpiece.

  • Patent number: 6981779
Abstract: It is an object of the present invention to provide a technique for making the effective use of cooling air for a motor within a power tool in order to rationalize the structure of the power tool. The representative power tool may have a tool bit case, a tool bit, a drive motor and a cooling air guiding member. The tool bit is provided within the tool bit case and performs a predetermined operation on a workpiece. The drive motor drives the tool bit. The cooling air guiding member guides cooling air for cooling the drive motor to a work area of the workpiece to be worked on with the tool bit, when the cooling air is discharged into the tool bit case. By such construction, the representative power tool can have rationalized structure that cooling air for cooling the drive motor of the power tool can also be utilized to clean the work area of the power tool.

  • Patent number: 6601305
Abstract: A portable circular saw includes a base and a saw unit having a circular saw blade. The saw unit is coupled to the base, so that the saw unit can laterally incline relative to the base. The saw unit can be fixed in a lateral inclining position relative to the base by a tightening device. A stopper device can define a maximum lateral inclining angle of the saw unit and includes a stopper and an engaging mechanism for engaging the stopper. The stopper can move with the saw unit. The engaging mechanism is adapted to engage the stopper when the saw unit is in a first maximum inclined position and when the saw unit is in a second maximum inclined position that is greater than the first maximum inclined position.
