    Abstract: A toner cartridge includes a recording unit that records a deterioration table in which a reference value of a deterioration degree is specified for each of constituent members and a load characteristic table in which the deterioration degree corresponding to an operation state of an image forming apparatus in which the toner cartridge is inserted is specified, a transmitting and receiving unit that performs transmission and reception with the image forming apparatus in which the toner cartridge is inserted, a deterioration counter that extracts the deterioration degree for each of the constituent members from the load characteristic table according to an operation state of the image forming apparatus and counts the deterioration degree for each of the constituent members, and a control unit that compares the deterioration degree counted by the deterioration counter and the reference value specified in the deterioration table.

    Abstract: The present invention provides an image forming apparatus that suffers less toner particles scattering and a narrower variation in image density. In this image forming apparatus, a decrease of a contrast potential difference can be compensated by means of a developing bias voltage generator circuit and a grid bias voltage generator circuit, so that the image density can be kept constant. The apparatus includes a developing mechanism in which the respective average particle diameters of carrier members and toner particles, toner concentration, and the diameter and peripheral speed of a developing roller are optimized. Although the diameter of the developing roller is small, therefore, a high image density can be secured, and the value of toner particles scattering can be lowered.

A judging unit judges whether or not the target pixel is isolated from the surrounding pixels. A detection unit detects the density values of the target pixels which make the target pixels isolated by a binarization process. A calculation unit calculates the accumulated isolated pixel frequencies of each density value detected by the detecting function when the judging unit and the detecting unit have finished processing all of the original image. A determination unit determines a threshold value on the basis of the accumulated isolated pixels frequencies.
