  • Patent number: 6237038
Abstract: A data communication system comprising a system processor, an application program assigned to an application buffer it controls, a communication protocol program assigned to a protocol buffer it controls, a communication controller for controlling communication lines, and transmitting and receiving buffers controlled by the communication controller. Data is copied at high speed among the application buffer, protocol buffer, and transmitting and receiving buffers in the same byte-based increments as those in which the system processor handles data. The fast data movement among the buffers boosts the throughput of the entire communication system.

  • Patent number: 6189053
Abstract: A communication control system and a method of implementing a high-speed data transmitting and receiving process uses a communication protocol program, a protocol buffer which is managed by the communication protocol program, a communication controller for controlling a transmission line and a network buffer managed by the communication controller. Further, there is provided a shared-buffer which is shared by the protocol buffer and a communication buffer. Frame data from a transmission line is shared by the shared-buffer, so that the frame data is directly written to and read from the shared-buffer by means of a shared-buffer control. Since the buffer is shared between the transmission line and the protocol, no excessive movement of data is required, thereby improving the throughput of the communication system as a whole.

  • Patent number: 5845078
Abstract: Parameters representing types of machines to be connected to a network, connection types thereof to the network, and operation modes thereof in the network system are set from an information processing apparatus. The obtained parameters are written as parameter files on a recording medium. In each network machine, a network system is automatically constructed by referencing the files. Consequently, the parameter setting operations for the installation of the machine are simplified and there is achieved automation of operations in each network machine.

  • Patent number: 5649102
Abstract: A distributed shared memory management system for a distributed shared memory computer system having a plurality of computers interconnected by a network, each computer having an independent address space and logically sharing data physically distributed to a storage of each computer. Each computer running a program for reading/changing the shared data includes a coherence control designation command for designating to enter a mutual exclusion state in which two or more computers cannot change the logically single shared data, a coherence control release command for designating a release of the mutual exclusion state, and a coherence control execution command for reflecting the contents of the shared data changed between the coherence control designation command and the coherence control release command, upon the logically single shared data in another computer.

  • Patent number: 5425023
Abstract: A method of managing, in a network system having at least two end systems, at least two networks respectively connected to the at least two end systems and at least one transfer device for connecting the networks and transferring data between the networks, a maximum transfer unit of one unit of data transferred at time on a transfer route connected between the two end systems and including the networks and the transfer device. A table is provided having information about the transfer route in each of the end systems and the transfer device, and an optimum value of maximum data lengths of the one unit of data which are transferable on the transfer route is registered, as the maximum transfer unit for the transfer device, in each of the tables. In particular, the optimum value is a minimum value of maximum data lengths of the one unit of data which are transferable through each of the networks on the transfer route.
