  • Patent number: 6721245
Abstract: There is provided an optical recording medium processing apparatus comprising: a carriage including a lens to guide a light beam to a recording medium for moving in a direction extending across tracks on the recording medium; a detector for detecting a TES; and a controller for moving the carriage across the tracks from an innermost circumferential position of the medium or its vicinity, for counting the number of tracks in accordance with a TZC pulse generated by the TES having a predetermined level or higher detected by the detector, and after the carriage has been moved for a predetermined period of time, for positioning the light beam spot on a target track in accordance with the counted number of the tracks. Therefore, the initial seek control process, whereby the carriage is moved from the innermost circumferential position of the medium or its vicinity to the center, can be performed without a position sensor.

  • Publication number: 20040062164
Abstract: An apparatus automatically controls the laser power of the light source by the feedback output of the APC detector and prevents the increase of laser power due to an abnormality of the APC detector. The automatic power control unit controls the drive amount of the light source by the detection output of the APC detector, which monitors the emission power of the light source, measures the relationship between the APC drive instruction amount and the detection output of the APC detector, and compares this inclination with the inclination at normal time. Also the automatic power control unit compares the error values before and after APC, and detects the change of the quantity of returned light during a predetermined period. As a result, data destruction due to separation, deviation, contamination or deterioration of the APC detector can be prevented effectively.

  • Publication number: 20040017595
Abstract: Even when a color difference diffusion (CD) method which allows high-speed color separation is used, it is difficult to attain preferred color reproduction corresponding to various user's requirements using a small-scale circuit. Hence, a color converter color-converts input image data using a 3D table selected from a plurality of 3D tables, and an interpolation process. A quantization processor obtains error-corrected data by adding error data to the color-converted image data. A dot pattern is selected based on the error-corrected data. The selected dot pattern is output to a print section. The error data is obtained by calculating the difference between a predetermined value corresponding to the dot pattern, and the error-corrected data. The error data is diffused to surrounding pixels.

  • Patent number: 6633521
Abstract: The present invention relates to a storage device and a servo recovery method for the storage device, which restores the head to a track when the head goes off from the track of a storage medium, and whereby it prevents the servo recovery process from being continuously called over a short period of time. The storage device comprises a storage medium, a head and a control circuit which performs the servo recovery process. The servo recovery process, having multiple recovery processes, is called up when off track is detected. The frequency that the recovery process is called up is detected, and one of the multiple recovery processes is executed according to the detected call-up frequency. A different recovery process is performed when the call-up frequency is high, therefore this recovery process makes it possible to prevent frequent occurrence of the off-track state.

  • Publication number: 20030141046
Abstract: A protective cover 7 is disposed on an airflow upstream side of a tube 2. Even when relatively large flying materials such as gravel impinge against a radiator 1, the flying materials are prevented from directly striking the tubes 2. As the tube 2 can thus be protected from the relatively large flying materials such as gravel, the radiator 1 can continue operating, and the reliability of the radiator 1 can be improved.

  • Publication number: 20030079679
Abstract: Within a container b 2 of a spin coater 1, a rotatable support table 4 for supporting a wafer W and an arm 6 for dropping a chemical liquid onto the wafer W are arranged. Also, the spin coater 1 comprises a gas introducing path 12 for introducing a laminar flow forming gas into the container 2. The gas introducing path 12 has a glass filter 13 provided in an upper part of the container 2, whereas the laminar flow forming gas is introduced into the container 2 by way of the glass filter 13. The container 2 is provided with a wall portion 15 formed so as to continuously spread like a curve downward from a lower end edge part of the glass filter 13. As a consequence, a downflow of the laminar flow forming gas occurs in the whole horizontal section of the region surrounded by the wall portion 15 within the container 2, thereby reliably preventing turbulent flows from occurring.

  • Patent number: 6519210
Abstract: A reproducing magnetic field correcting unit is provided, a reproducing state is monitored while increasing a reproducing magnetic field by using a predetermined reproducing magnetic field as an initial value H1, and a reproducing magnetic field when a reproducible state is obtained is determined as an optimum magnetic field. A reproducing magnetic field obtained by adding a predetermined value to the reproducing magnetic field in the reproducible state is used as an optimum reproducing magnetic field. A change in reproducing magnetic field is started from the low magnetic field in which a predetermined value is subtracted from the initial value. A shoulder portion is certainly detected and the optimum magnetic field is set.

  • Patent number: 6452879
Abstract: An offset measuring unit receives a servo error signal E1 in which a change in an offset caused by a change in an amount of reflection light directly appears and which does not pass through a filter, and measures an offset amount in the servo error signal which is caused by a change in the amount of reflection light.
