Abstract: The present invention provides an imaging device that is miniature despite of having a drive unit. The imaging device has an imaging unit 2 having a photoelectric converter 8 for converting an optical image into electric signal, an optical unit 4 for forming the optical image of a subject on the photoelectric converter 8, and a drive unit 5 for actuating at least part of the optical unit 4 in an optical axis direction. The size of the drive unit 5 is substantially the same as or not more than the width of the imaging unit 2.
