  • Publication number: 20020022528
Abstract: Each pocket of a cage is composed of a pair of axial wall surfaces opposing each other along the axial line of the cage, a pair of circumferential wall surfaces opposing each other along the circumference direction of the cage, and radii linking the axial wall surfaces and circumferential wall surface. A ratio (R/d) of the radius of curvature R of the radii to the diameter d of the torque transmitting balls is set within a range 0.45 R/d 0.62. Also, the circumferential wall surfaces and radii are shaped along an arc having the radius of curvature R. Further, as to the axial wall surfaces, variance in the treatment margin is lessened by applying the grinding, hardened steel cutting, or the like after the heat treatment (carburized hardening and tempering) is applied to the cage.

  • Patent number: 5835911
Abstract: A number of sets of software may be systematically distributed and maintained via a network connecting many vendors and users of client/server software. A client program in a user computer detects when software subject to maintenance is activated and transmits an inquiry over the network to the software vendor's computer for information on the current version of the software. The server program compares data in the inquiry with data relating to the latest version of the software and returns update instruction information and updated software if appropriate. The client program automatically updates the software to the latest version according to the update instruction information when it is received. The client program can also send inquires at predetermined times, or in response to a user command.

  • Patent number: 5642520
Abstract: A method and apparatus for recognizing the topic structure of language. Language data is divided into simple sentences and a prominent noun portion (PNP) extracted from each. The simple sentences are divided into blocks of data dealing with a single subject. A starting point of at least one topic is detected and a topic introducing region of each topic is determined from block information and language data characteristics. A PNP satisfying a predetermined condition is chosen from the PNPs in each determined topic intro. region as the topic portion (TP) of the topic in the topic intro. region. A topic level indicating a depth of nesting of each topic and a topic scope indicating a region over which the topic continues is determined from the TP and sentences before and after the TP. Sub-topic intro. regions in the remaining area where no topic intro. regions are recognized are determined from block information and language data characteristics.

  • Patent number: 5573443
Abstract: A spindle arrangement is provided for either holding a workpiece or mounting a working tool onto a rotary shaft in a cutting/grinding process. The spindle arrangement includes radial magnetic bearings for rotatably supporting the rotary shaft in a radial direction thereof by using suction forces of electromagnets, displacement sensors provided in the radial direction of the rotary shaft for measuring an amount of positional displacement of the rotary shaft, and a controlling device for comparing the measured amount of the positional displacement and a displacement command and then changing the suction forces of the radial electromagnets based on the compared result so as to cause agreement between the measured amount and the command.

  • Patent number: 5376871
Abstract: In a magnetic bearing carrying a rotary shaft in the air, the rotary shaft is required to rotate substantially at the same position. In controlling the position of the rotary shaft, a first exciting current I.sub.f is supplied to a plurality of first electric magnets formed in the proximity of one end of the rotary shaft, whereas a second exciting current I.sub.r is supplied to a plurality of second electric magnets formed in the proximity of the other end of the rotary shaft. The first exciting current I.sub.f is represented by the sum of a first biasing current I.sub.f, a first control current i.sub.Hf for translation, and a first control current i.sub.Kf for rotary motion. The second exciting current I.sub.r is represented by the sum of a second biasing current I.sub.r, a second control current i.sub.Hr for translation, and a second control current i.sub.Kr for rotary motion. Under such conditions, a ratio I.sub.f /I.sub.r between the first and second biasing currents, a ratio i.sub.Hf /i.sub.

  • Patent number: 5361470
Abstract: A processing apparatus with a movable processing tool, includes a deflection detecting device, a rotating position detecting sensor, an arithmetic unit, an output circuit, a fine adjustment device, and an XY table. The detecting device detects a plurality of deflection amounts of a processing reference surface of a to-be-processed work held by a work holding member mounted to a main shaft of an NC processing apparatus. The sensor detects a rotating position of the work. The unit calculates a correcting amount of the tool at a processing point of the work from a measured value of the sensor and plural measured values of the deflection amounts of the detecting device. The circuit outputs the correcting amount synchronously with the rotating position and processing point of the work. The adjustment device has the tool fixed thereto for finely moving the tool in a processing direction based on an output from the circuit. The fine adjustment device is secured to the XY table.

  • Patent number: 5205078
Abstract: A rotary apparatus includes a rotary spindle, a front end portion of which projects from a shell to an outside thereof and which is supported by magnetic force while the spindle is rotating, a working tool being mountable on the front end portion of the spindle. A first sensor is provided for detecting a position of the front end portion of the spindle in a radial direction thereof and is provided on the front end portion of the shell and in an annular space formed at a periphery of the front end portion of the spindle such that the first sensor occupies a volume of not more than 50% of the annular space. A second sensor is provided, for detecting a position of a rear end portion of the spindle in the radial direction thereof and is provided on the rear end portion of the shell.

  • Patent number: 4841430
Abstract: Disclosed is a method of teaching a moving part to trace a path, the method comprising the steps of determining a curved condition of the teaching path on the basis of a difference between a path length and a straight distance from a first point to a second point on the teaching path and an angle made by the first and second points and a third point, and selectively storing the first, second and third points in accordance with the results of the determination. The first, second and third points are stored as path data in a memory when the difference is greater than a reference length and the angle is smaller than a reference angle. On the other hand, the first and second points are stored therein when the difference is greater than the reference length and the angle is greater than the reference angle.
