Patent number: 6380841Abstract: A variable resistor is constructed to reliably seal the space between a rotor and a substrate without insert-molding the substrate into a case, and to be produced at a very low cost. This variable resistor includes a hollow square-prism shaped case which is open at the top and the bottom, a substrate which is fitted into the lower opening of the case, and on the top surface of which a collector electrode and an arcuate resistor are provided, a rotor rotatably fitted into the upper opening of the case, a slider mounted on the bottom surface of the rotor and making sliding contact with the collector electrode and the resistor, an annular packing member disposed between the rotor and the substrate for sealing the space therebetween, terminals mounted on the substrate and electrically connected to the resistor and the collector electrode, and a metallic cover.Type: GrantFiled: January 4, 2001Date of Patent: April 30, 2002Assignee: Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd.Inventors: Fumitoshi Masuda, Shigeki Takahashi, Toru Ogata, Tomohisa Ogawa, Minoru Yamaguchi, Yutaka Kitamura

Patent number: 6114668Abstract: A heater-installed grip for a vehicle includes substantially semi-cylindrical inner pieces (33.sub.1, 33.sub.2) of a synthetic resin which have a planar heater (34.sub.L, 34.sub.R ; 174.sub.L, 174.sub.R ; 184) wound around an outer periphery thereof and which are integrally embedded in a cylindrical grip body (35) made of a rubber assembled to a pipe-shaped steering handlebar (26) or a throttle pipe (79). In this heater-installed grip, a circumferentially central portion of each of the inner pieces (33.sub.1, 33.sub.2) is formed at a large wall thickness, as compared with circumferentially opposite ends thereof. Thus, the assemblability of the grip body (35) to the pipe-shaped steering handlebar (26) or the throttle pipe (79) is enhanced, while ensuring a die-clamping strength in a process for forming the grip body (35).Type: GrantFiled: April 20, 1998Date of Patent: September 5, 2000Assignee: Koita Manufacturing Co., Ltd.Inventors: Toru Ogata, Nobuhiko Muramatsu, Shinji Teraoka, Yasuo Ohishi

Patent number: 5834734Abstract: A cylindrical rubber handgrip body to be connected to a handle bar pipe of, for example, a motor cycle, has a sheet-like heater embedded therein, and a power supply cord soldered to the heater and extending out of a side face of the grip body. The power supply cord extends inside the handgrip body along the circumference thereof over at least half a turn. A cord support of a high stiffness is provided in a cord exit portion of the handgrip body, for bearing the pulling force that acts on the power supply cord. Both the cord support and the handgrip body bear the pulling force that acts on the power supply cord and reduce the pulling force that is transmitted by the cord to the soldered connection to the heater.Type: GrantFiled: December 3, 1996Date of Patent: November 10, 1998Assignee: Koito Manufacturing Co., Ltd.Inventor: Toru Ogata

Patent number: 5735037Abstract: A handgrip with a built-in heater for a motorcycle constituted by a hollow cylindrical handgrip body, wherein a flexible printed circuit heater is wound around an outer periphery of a synthetic resin inner piece of a substantially hollow cylindrical shape with a hollow cylindrical or peripheral portion slotted, and a cladding rubber layer is integrally molded thereon to cause the heater to extend between the inner piece and the cladding rubber layer. The heater is wound over a range covering a half circumference or more but less than a full circumference of the inner piece. The cladding rubber layer is molded in such a form that a region where the heater is not wound faces parting positions of mold halves for forming the cladding rubber layer so as to prevent the occurrence of turn-ups and creases.Type: GrantFiled: June 17, 1996Date of Patent: April 7, 1998Assignee: Koito Manufacturing Co., Ltd.Inventor: Toru Ogata

Patent number: 5613407Abstract: A handgrip with a built-in heater for a motorcycle in which an FPC heater is integrally embedded in a hollow cylindrical handgrip body made of rubber and exteriorly fitted to a handle pipe of a motorcycle. A heater circuit region of the handgrip body is constituted by a synthetic resin inner piece of a substantially hollow cylindrical shape with a hollow cylindrical or peripheral portion slotted, a plurality of grooves communicating with each other are formed on an inner peripheral surface of the inner piece, a rubber layer for making pressure contact with a pipe, formed integrally with a cladding rubber layer for covering the FPC heater extending on the outer peripheral surface of the inner piece, is filled in the grooves, and the inner piece is split into a plurality of pieces. Hence, the formation of the grooves on the inner peripheral surface of the inner piece is facilitated.Type: GrantFiled: July 17, 1995Date of Patent: March 25, 1997Assignee: Koito Manufacturing Co., Ltd.Inventor: Toru Ogata
