  • Patent number: 6967438
Abstract: In a display device which is formed by attaching together a device substrate and a sealing substrate, a desiccant is coated to form a shape having a plurality of bending portions on the sealing substrate. Furthermore, the path coated with the desiccant on the sealing substrate is longer than conventional devices, thereby increasing a gross surface area and thus improving moisture absorption effect.

  • Patent number: 6930449
Abstract: In a sealing structure of an electroluminescent display device, in which a first glass substrate formed with an EL element and a second glass substrate as a cap are attached to each other, breaking of the element device is prevented when external force is applied to the first glass substrate and the second glass substrate. The sealing structure has the first glass substrate provided with the EL element on a surface thereof, the second glass substrate attached to the first glass substrate with a sealing resin, a desiccant layer formed on a surface of the second glass substrate and a stress buffer layer covering a surface of the desiccant layer.

  • Publication number: 20040164676
Abstract: An upper area over an element substrate is sealed by a sealing substrate to which a desiccant is fixed on an internal surface of the sealing substrate. A substance prepared by dispersing moisture absorbent grains into an adhesive made of resin is used as the desiccant. Further, the size of the moisture absorbent grains is defined to be equal to or smaller than 10 &mgr;m. In this manner, the desiccant can be prevented from cracking due to temperature variations.

  • Patent number: 6705912
Abstract: A display device manufacturing method includes providing a device substrate having a display element, providing a sealing substrate, and forming a layer of a sealing resin on the sealing substrate. The viscosity of the sealing resin is between 40000 cp and 170000 cp when the layer of the sealing resin is formed. The method also includes placing the sealing substrate on the device substrate so that the layer of the sealing resin is disposed between the sealing substrate and the device substrate, and heating the layer of the sealing resin to harden the sealing resin so that the sealing substrate and the device substrate are attached together by the sealing resin.

  • Publication number: 20040032207
Abstract: In a sealing structure of an electroluminescent display device, there are inhibited a temperature rise of a display panel on a light-emission of an EL element and thus deterioration of the EL element. The structure of the invention has a first glass substrate provided with an electroluminescent device on a surface thereof, a second glass substrate attached to the first glass substrate with sealing resin, and a desiccant layer formed on a pocket portion of the second glass substrate, and a high heat conductive layer made of a metal sheet etc covering a surface of the desiccant layer.

  • Publication number: 20030178923
Abstract: A coating start point is altered to avoid flowing of a sealing resin to an EL element when the sealing resin is pressed and flattened on adhesion of a device substrate and a sealing substrate with the sealing resin interposed therebetween. In a manufacturing method of a display device of the invention which is formed by adhering the device substrate and the sealing substrate with the sealing resin interposed therebetween, when the sealing resin is coated along edges of the device substrate and the sealing substrate, the coating is started on a corner of the substrates as a coating start point and a coating end point is on the same corner as for the coating start point.
