  • Patent number: 5080498
Abstract: A dust seal device used with a linear guide apparatus includes a pair of side seals respectively fixed to front and rear end surface of end caps and a pair of under seals respectively removably attached to lower surfaces of side walls of a slider. Each side seal has an inverted U-shape with a pair of bent pieces formed by bending lower portions of both leg portions of each side seal inwardly at right angles in an axial direction so as to cover the lower end surfaces of one end cap. Each side seal also has projections formed by respectively bending lateral side portions of the pair of bent pieces further upwardly to constitute positioning and under seal fall-off preventing projections. Each under seal is of a rectangular strip shape having a length substantially equal to that of the slider, including the thickness of the end caps. Each under seal is attached to the slider by inserting each under seal between the bent piece and the lower end surface of the end cap.

  • Patent number: 5018878
Abstract: A guide rail has a main track surface on an upper surface and sub-track surfaces on both side surfaces. The guide rail is further formed with axially extending grooves in both of the side surfaces respectively below the sub-track surfaces. A slider having a substantially U-shaped cross section has roller type linear bearings which roll respectively on the main track surface and the sub-tract surfaces. The slider is provided with protruding portions at lower surfaces of both side walls of the slider which extend horizontally and inwardly into the grooves of the guide rail. The protruding portions are slidably in contact with inner surfaces of the grooves and prevent the slider from slipping out of the guide rail. Furthermore, seal members made from rubber are attached respectively to lower surfaces of the protruding portions so that inner edges of the seal member are slidably in contact with the inner surfaces of the groove.

  • Patent number: 5013164
Abstract: A linear guide bearing apparatus includes a guide rail having an H-shaped cross section and an axially extending through bore. A slider having an I-shaped cross section is fitted into the through bore for movement in the axial direction. The slider is formed of a table member, a leg member, and a distance member formed of an elastic body and sandwiched between the table member and the leg member. The table member, the distance mebmer, and the leg member are integrally coupled by a bolt penetrating these members vertically. A clamping spring member is threadedly engaged with a low end of the bolt so that the elastic distance member is compressed vertically and the table member and the leg member are elastically pressed against the guide rail by the clamping spring member through the elastic distance member. As a result, balls inserted between the ball rolling grooves of the guide rail and the slider are preloaded at a constant pressure.

  • Patent number: 4953988
Abstract: A linear guide apparatus has a fall-off prevention and a clamp device built therein. The fall-off prevention and clamp device includes a piston and a top integrally secured to the end of a piston rod. The piston having a piston head is accommodated in an inner bore serving as a fluid pressure cylinder formed vertically in a slider. The top engages a T-shaped groove formed in a guide rail and extending axially over the whole length thereof. A belleville spring normally urges the piston head toward the guide rail, that is, in a non-clamp direction to move the top away from the inner surface of a neck portion of the T-shaped groove. When a fluid pressure is applied to the piston head at the piston rod side against the belleville spring, the piston together with the top moves away from the guide rail, that is, in a clamp direction to bring the top into engagement with the inner surface of the neck portion of the T-shaped groove. As a result, the slider is clamped to the guide rail.

  • Patent number: 4918846
Abstract: A dust seal attached to each end of a slider of a linear guide apparatus includes a side seal member which has semicircular seal protrusions protruding inwardly to wipe dust from the ball rolling grooves of a guide rail, formed at both sides thereof. The side seal member has a void portion at a position corresponding to the opening of a bolt inserting hole in the bottom surface of a recessed groove formed in the upper surface of the guide rail to allow dust deposited on the recessed groove to pass through the inside of the slider. The dust seal further includes an axially extending upper seal member made of a spring steel plate attached to the upper inner surface of the slider so as to oppose the upper surface of the guide rail. The upper seal member having a cross section which provides a resilient property, and seal plates secured to the lower surfaces of both sides of wing portions of the upper seal member.

  • Patent number: 4886375
Abstract: A dust-proof cover for preventing foreign particles from attaching or depositing on the surface of a guide rail of a linear guide apparatus includes, for example, four hollow-square cover elements connected telescopically. The dust-proof cover has an open bottom portion with edge portions extending axially and extending inwardly from both lower edges of the side walls of the dust-proof cover. Two of the cover elements respectively have pairs of sphere members held rollably in the inside of both side edge portions so that the pairs of sphere members protrude inwardly into ball rolling grooves formed in both sides of the guide rail. The dust-proof cover can be extended and contracted smoothly by being guided by the pairs of sphere members rolling in the ball rolling grooves.
