  • Patent number: 5079832
Abstract: This invention relates to an apparatus for automatically attaching and detaching such exterior parts as doors, a trunk, and a bonnet, etc. which are openably mounted to a vehicle body by way of such tightening device as pins, bolts, etc. on the assembling line of a vehicle. In a door attaching and detaching apparatus the position of pins for openably attaching a door on a vehicle body is detected by a pin position detection mechanism, and the position of the pin drawing out and inserting mechanism is compensated according to the position thereof. Then, the pins can be drawn out from and inserted in the vehicle body and the door by the corresponding pin drawing out and inserting mechanism. Furthermore, the position of the door holding mechanism is compensated according to the position of the pins detected by the pin position detection mechanism, thereby causing the door to be held by the corresponding door holding mechanism.

  • Patent number: 5079822
Abstract: An automotive body and body panels such as an engine hood, a trunk lid, and doors are assembled together along an assembling line. The automotive body with the body panels removably installed thereon and a feed jig on which the body panels can removably be installed thereon, are alternately fed along a first feed path. Then, the body panels are removed from the automotive body while they are being fed along the first feed path and the body panels are installed on the feed jig which is fed upstream of the automotive body along the first feed path. The automotive body from which the body panels have been removed and the body panels which have been installed on the feed jig are thereafter coated. Thereafter, the coated automotive body and the coated body panels are fed along a second feed path. The body panels are removed from the feed jig while they are being fed along the second feed path and the removed body panels are installed on the automotive body which is also fed along the second feed path.

  • Patent number: 4946467
Abstract: A suture comprising a core of at least one synthetic fiber filament yarns, and a covering layer formed of a plurality of silk strands and sheathing the core, the core and the covering layer having substantially the same elongation at break. The filament yarns have increased modulus of elasticity and increased breaking strength to thereby give the suture improved breaking strength and also have enhanced rigidity to render the suture highly amenable to the correction of its deformation and easier to handle.

  • Patent number: 4324748
Abstract: In a method for producing a plastic foam of a desired expanded dimension which is constituted by extruding a melt of a thermoplastic synthetic resin containing a blowing agent through a die of an extruder and passing the extrudate through a shaping device located outwardly of the extruder and secured to the discharge end of the extruder while expanding and solidifying the molten mass so that it fills the shaping device; the improvement wherein at least a part of that area of the inside surface of the shaping device with which the expanded resin makes contact is formed of a plate of a fluorocarbon resin, said plate being secured to the inside surface of the shaping device by fitting portions, said fitting portions having a sufficient space for absorbing an increase in the volume of the fluorocarbon resin plate at the temperature of extrusion molding; and an apparatus for use in the above described process.

  • Patent number: 4260572
Abstract: A foamed polystyrene board useful as a thermal insulating material is produced by melting a polystyrene having a melt index of from 0.5 to 5 under heat in an extruder, mixing the molten mass with a blowing agent composed of methyl chloride and dichlorodifluoromethane, and extruding the resulting foamable molten gel from the extruder. As a novel essential feature, a flowability improver having a melting point higher than 70.degree. C., such as an aromatic sulfonamide, a brominated aromatic compound, a brominated alicyclic compound or a poly(.alpha.-methylstyrene), is mixed with the polystyrene within the extruder to impart superior extrusion formability. The foam has good dimensional stability both at room temperature and higher temperature, high mechanical strength and superior thermal insulation properties.

  • Patent number: 4192218
Abstract: A fail-safe fluid control valve comprises a first sleeve accommodated in and fixed to a valve housing, a second sleeve slidably received in the first sleeve, and a valve spool slidably received in the second sleeve. The first and second sleeves are properly formed with grooves and ports while the valve spool is properly formed with spaced large diameter portions. When there occurs such an abnormal condition that the valve spool is jammed or stuck to the second sleeve, the second sleeve is axially moved in unison with the valve spool by an input lever for actuating the fail-safe control valve under the same condition as a normal condition in which the valve spool is axially moved by the input lever.
