Color-coded backlighted single camera three-dimensional defocusing particle image velocimetry system
Patent number: 8638358Abstract: Three-Dimensional Defocusing Particle Image Velocimetry (3DDPIV) allows for measurement of three-dimensional velocities within a volume. In the disclosed embodiment, a mask with a plurality of apertures is disposed with a lens between the test section and a color camera. The field-of-view is backlit and the test section is seeded with black particles. This configuration allows for a lower power light source as compared to conventional 3DDPIV. Color-coded particle images are formed on a white background, wherein each of the color images is generated from light that travels through the filters not blocked by the imaged particle, thereby producing a color image that is of a color different from the color of any of the filters. A color space linear transformation is used to allow for accurate identification of each pinhole exposure when the color filters' spectrum does not match those of the 3-CCD color camera.Type: GrantFiled: March 18, 2010Date of Patent: January 28, 2014Assignee: University of WashingtonInventors: Dana Dabiri, Wei-Hsin Tien, Patrick Kartes, Toru Yamasaki -

Patent number: 5349452Abstract: A color space of input image information sent from an image input device is recognized, and, if it is not the standard color space, it is judged whether the input image information is associated with color correction data. If the input image information is not on the standard color space but associated with color correction data, it is converted to image information on the standard color space using the associated color correction data. If the input image information is neither on the standard color space nor associated with color correction data, it is converted to image information on the standard color space using color correction data read from a storage device. A conversion device converts the image data on the standard color space to YMCK image information, which is sent to an image output device.Type: GrantFiled: January 28, 1994Date of Patent: September 20, 1994Assignee: Fuji Xerox Co., Ltd.Inventors: Masahiro Maeda, Toru Yamasaki, Masayuki Kurahashi, Noriaki Seki

Patent number: 5146328Abstract: A color converter capable of conversions between various kinds of color signals appropriate for use over a network (i.e., RGB signals, various luminance/chromaticity separated signals that are expressed by linear transformations of said RGB signals, and CIE LAB signals, which signals may or may not be gamma-corrected) and the internal color signals of devices connected to the network can be realized by rewriting associated coefficients and constants using the same circuit. Accurate color conversions can always be accomplished with an inexpensive system layout.Type: GrantFiled: July 15, 1991Date of Patent: September 8, 1992Assignee: Fuji Xerox Corporation, Ltd.Inventors: Toru Yamasaki, Hiroaki Ikegami, Noriaki Seki, Yoshiharu Hibi, Yoshihiro Terada
