  • Publication number: 20150359290
Abstract: An article includes a knitted component. The knitted component includes a knit element that is configured to stretch between a neutral position and a stretched position. The knitted component also includes a tensile strand. The tensile strand is at least partially inlaid within the knit element. The tensile strand includes a portion that is arranged as a stretch limiter element that is configured to move between a slack position and a taut position as the knit element moves between the neutral position and the stretched position. The stretch limiter element is in the slack position when the knit element is in the neutral position, and the stretch limiter element is in the taut position when the knit element is in the stretched position to prevent stretch of the knit element beyond the stretched position.

  • Publication number: 20150336715
Abstract: A three-dimensional structure composed of pliable elements and having affixed seams is provided. The structure may comprise duffel bags, backpacks, shoe uppers, etc. The structure has a bottom panel with a first terminal bottom portion and a first end panel with a terminal end portion. As well, the first terminal bottom portion and the terminal end portion are affixed to each other in a flattened, two-dimensional arrangement by a variety of attachment methodologies including a thermoplastic elastomer strip. Two-dimensional construction saves time and helps to reduce manufacturing costs.

  • Patent number: 9131749
Abstract: Woven textile structures constructed using dual-loom technology are provided. Filaments are woven in such a way as to create a first set of different discrete layers of the same fabric in some regions of the textile and a second set of discrete layers of the same fabric at other regions of the same textile. The different layers are used to construct various textile structures such as a woven bag.

  • Publication number: 20150245683
Abstract: A material that includes at least one layer made of an auxetic structure and articles of footwear having soles comprising the materials. When the material is under tension, it expands in both the direction under tension and in the directional orthogonal to the direction under tension. The articles of footwear have soles that have at least one layer made of a material that has a pattern of sole elements with apertures. The sole elements have may rotate with respect to each other when the sole is under lateral or longitudinal tension, thus increasing the lateral and longitudinal dimensions of the sole. One or more auxetic or flat liners may be used to prevent entry of debris into the apertures.

  • Publication number: 20150245685
Abstract: A material that includes at least one layer made of an auxetic structure and articles of footwear having soles comprising the materials. When the material is under tension, it expands in both the direction under tension and in the directional orthogonal to the direction under tension. The articles of footwear have sole components that have at least one layer made of a material that has a pattern of geometrical patterns. The geometrical patterns have hinged portions that rotate with respect to each other when the sole is under lateral or longitudinal tension, thus increasing the lateral and longitudinal dimensions of the sole. The sole component may include a pattern of recesses with varying depths, sizes, and shapes disposed along the inner surface as well as the outer surface of the sole component. In some cases the recesses may extend through the entire sole component layer.

  • Publication number: 20150183156
Abstract: A method for applying a thermoreactive seam tape to a seam is provided. The thermoreactive seam tape may be positioned adjacent to the seam, which may include a first fabric surface and an adjacent second fabric surface. The thermoreactive seam tape may include an interior planar surface that engages both the first fabric surface and the second fabric surface of the seam. The thermoreactive seam tape may further include an exterior surface opposite the interior surface, where the exterior surface is substantially non-planar with respect to the interior planar surface along a length of the thermoreactive seam tape. Heat and pressure may be applied to the thermoreactive seam tape, wherein the heat and the pressure facilitate adhesion of the thermoreactive seam tape to the first fabric surface and the second fabric surface of the seam.

  • Patent number: 8800606
Abstract: A dynamic finishing device that is able to finish one side of a product independently of a second side of the product while the product is being woven is provided. The sides may be finished in a non-linear fashion by the dynamic finishing device. Additionally, one or more finishing devices can be dynamically positioned in an interior portion of the woven product as it is being woven. Once positioned, the finishing devices may create apertures, pockets, and/or tunnels in the woven product and finish the edges of these creations. Finishing in the interior portions of the woven product occurs in the direction of the warp and in the direction of the weft.

  • Patent number: 8631515
Abstract: Swim tops having a friction locking cord adjustment system are described. The swim top may have a pair of friction locking adjustment terminal ends. Each friction locking adjustment terminal end may be secured to an end of one of a pair of neck cords of the swim top. The friction locking adjustment terminal ends may be slidably affixed to the opposing neck cord of the swim top to permit the fit of the top to be adjusted. The friction locking adjustment terminal ends may be comprised of adjustment buckles or slidable knots. Adjustment buckles may include two or more silicone coated pads having holes for threading the cords of the swim top. A friction enhancing pattern may be proximate to the holes of the adjustment buckles.
