  • Patent number: 6049827
Abstract: A method, apparatus and computer program for preferentially displaying partial information related to one of a plurality of network equipment connected to a network being managed by a network management system. The partial information is required for network management to be conducted from the network equipment. A managed terminal is included in each network equipment connected to the network. The network management system collects management information from each of the network equipment connected to the network and stores the management information therein. When conducting network management from the network equipment, the managed terminal thereof sends a request for network management to the network management system. The network management system transfers a program for managing the network to the managed terminal.

  • Patent number: 6041353
Abstract: When a computer as a logical connection destination which detected a search objective user issues a search request to first one of computers which established logical connections associated with the search objective user, the first computer selects users who used a searched computer in a use time of the search objective user, and executes the search request over the computers which established the logical connections associated with the selected users. The same search request is sequentially carried out over m candidates of the logical connection originator computer of the searched computer down to an m-th computer. Search results (a computer identifier of the searched computer and user identifiers of the selected users) obtained by the m computers are collected in the respective computers and returned to the logical connection destination computer in an order opposite to the search request order.

  • Patent number: 5860022
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a computer system which comprises a plurality of input/output devices, an adapter device coupled to the plurality of input/output devices and a main processing unit for supplying an input/output request to each of the plurality of input/output devices through the adapter device. A plurality of input/output commands are respectively issued to the plurality of input/output devices from the main processing unit as one input/output start command. The adapter device specifies to which input/output devices the plurality of input/output commands included in the one input/output start command correspond. Further, the adapter device supplies input/output commands to the specified input/output devices respectively.

  • Patent number: 5398329
Abstract: In a communication system having a plurality of host computers and two communication control processors (CCPs) connected to the respective host computers, one CCP is used as a regular CCP and the other CCP as a backup CCP. Each host computer establishes links with the two CCPs. Each of the host computers has a link flag for each link connected to each of the CCPs. The flag is set when the link is connected to the regular CCP. When the master host computer detects failure of the regular CCP, the master host computer sends an activate node request to the backup CCP to indicate that the backup CCP should be activated. Upon reception of the activate node request, the backup CCP sends a change output link request to all of the host computers. Upon reception of the change output link request, each of the host computers sets the link flag corresponding to the backup CCP to deal with the backup CCP as a regular CCP.

  • Patent number: 5327560
Abstract: A method for use in a network having a plurality of host computers, at least one communication control processor (CCP) commonly connected to the host computers, and a plurality of resources connected to the CCP. According to the method, if a resource is to be added to or deleted from the network, an operator designates a reconfiguration directory including at least one reconfiguration designating data for defining a relation between the network and a resource to be changed. Each host computer is assigned a reconfiguration command. In response to this reconfiguration command, each host computer reconfigures its own network configuration definition information in accordance with the defined reconfiguration designating data within the designated reconfiguration directory.
