Patent number: 7255611Abstract: A connector having a compact engagement structure providing a high retaining force is provided. A shoulder is provided on an inner wall of a housing for storing a contact. The shoulder is inclined so that a distal end thereof projects toward a first end of the housing with respect to a proximal end thereof. An engaging piece which engages the shoulder is provided on an engaging portion of a contact body. An inner edge of a distal end of the engaging piece is chamfered. The contact is inserted into a storage chamber of the housing from a second end of the housing, and the engaging piece smoothly lifts from the distal end of the shoulder to the proximal end. Accordingly, the contact is retained by the housing with a high retaining force.Type: GrantFiled: February 18, 2005Date of Patent: August 14, 2007Assignee: J.S.T. Mfg. Co., Ltd.Inventors: Tsukasa Kubo, Toshiaki Horii, Eiji Takeda

Patent number: 7048570Abstract: A lockable electric connector to be fitted and electrically connected to a socket provided on an outer face thereof with a rib extending in the insertion direction. The electric connector is provided with: a contact; a housing which has a fitting concave for receiving the socket, and which holds the contact such that a portion of the contact is exposed in the fitting concave; and a locking claw formed as projecting from the housing toward the upstream side in the socket insertion direction for holding the fitting state of the socket to the lockable electric connector. The locking claw has an engaging projection to be locked and engaged with an engaging portion of the socket, the engaging projection being formed at a position upstream with respect to the fitting concave in the socket insertion direction. The engaging projection has a guide groove for guiding the rib of the socket, the guide groove extending in the socket insertion direction.Type: GrantFiled: December 24, 2002Date of Patent: May 23, 2006Assignee: J.S.T. Patent number: 6837734Abstract: A system and method for transporting connectors for printed circuit boards using connectors which are protected from tilting in a magazine case. Each connector (11) for printed circuit boards has a housing (13) narrow and elongate to hold a few contacts (12), a pair of lockable elastic legs (15) disposed at lower end regions of opposite lateral walls (14) of the housing and protruding sideways, and locking pawls (16) formed integral with the respective elastic legs. A pair of supplementary lugs (17) formed integral with upper end regions of the lateral walls (14) also protrude sideways the same distance as the pawls, so that when the connectors are driven forth within a magazine case (25), the neighboring supplementary lugs (17) will contact each other simultaneously as the neighboring pawls (16) jostle one another, protecting the connectors from tilting, and thus delivering them in line and in an ordinarily way.Type: GrantFiled: August 6, 2003Date of Patent: January 4, 2005Assignee: J.S.T. Mfg. Co., Ltd.Inventors: Kohei Ushio, Toshiaki Horii, Ryoichi Kawamoto, Takaaki Makita

Patent number: 6733343Abstract: An anti-mismatching pair of a first and second connectors are constructed such that the first connector (1) is either of a male and female types and has two connective planes each having at least one restricted ridge (11,12). The second connector (21) is correspondingly either of a female and male types and also has two connective planes each having at least one restricting groove (32,33) corresponding to the restricted ridge (11,12). The number and position of the restricted ridge (11,12) as well as those of the restricting groove (32,33) are designed such that the connective planes in each connector (1,21) have overall contours extending symmetrically with each other with respect to the center point (C) of symmetry lying between the connective planes.Type: GrantFiled: July 9, 2002Date of Patent: May 11, 2004Assignee: J.S.T. Patent number: 6672899Abstract: An electric connector assembly has an upper connector (1) stacked on a lower connector (2) and having an insulated housing (4), whose opposite side-walls extend downwards to form pairs of elongate legs (5). An insulated housing (20) of the lower connector (2) also has opposite side-walls extending down to form a pair of stubby legs (21) shorter than the elongate legs (5). The lower connector (2) is detachably secured in between the elongate legs (5) so as to be nested in the upper connector (1), in such a manner that either of the upper and lower connectors (1,2) can be separated from the other so as to be used alone, although any additional supporting parts or the like is not required to stack the upper connector on the lower connector.Type: GrantFiled: July 9, 2002Date of Patent: January 6, 2004Assignee: J.S.T.
