  • Publication number: 20140139871
Abstract: A management apparatus obtains setting information from a replacement target device. Thereafter, it designates a distribution mode for distributing the setting information to a new device. If a replace mode is designated as the distribution mode, the management apparatus distributes the setting information to the new device and issues a power-off request to the replacement target device. The replacement target device that received the power-off request turns off its own power. The new device that received the setting information reflects the setting information in the new device in accordance with the designated distribution mode.

  • Patent number: 8621288
Abstract: A device management apparatus acquires the state of a device (image forming apparatus), and determines whether or not an error occurring in the image forming apparatus is the already-occurred error based on the change in the state of the image forming apparatus. When the error occurring in the image forming apparatus is an already-occurred error, the device management apparatus determines whether or not the error continues for a period of time equal to or longer than a predetermined period of time. When the error continues for a period of time equal to or longer than a predetermined period of time, the device management apparatus changes an error notification destination, and retransmits an electronic mail regarding the error to the changed notification destination.

  • Patent number: 8533920
Abstract: A method, apparatus, program, and storage medium, for managing a network device by communicating with an information processing device and the network device via a network and managing the network device in response to a request from the information processing device. If a request for execution of a process, which needs particular authorization, upon the network device, is received from the information processing device, it is determined whether a command to invalidate a password of said network device has been received together with the process execution request. When the password of the network device is to be invalidated, a password invalidation request is transmitted to the network device. This technique makes it possible for an administrator of a network device to use it even when the administrator forgets the device password assigned to the network device without having to perform initialization which would cause all setting data to be lost.

  • Patent number: 8478866
Abstract: A device management apparatus that enables an information obtaining apparatus to obtain device information from a device management apparatus connected to a first network other than a second network to which the information obtaining apparatus is connected, and manage devices. A communication protocol that can be used by the information obtaining apparatus is extracted from a device information obtaining request from the information obtaining apparatus. When a device connected to the first network is not operating using the communication protocol and is able to activate the communication protocol, the device is requested to activate the communication protocol. When the communication protocol has been successfully activated, and it is necessary to change access settings for the device, the device is requested to change the access settings. When the access settings have been successfully changed, a response concerning device information is created and sent to the information obtaining apparatus.

  • Patent number: 8473597
Abstract: A network device control unit and method are provided in which, not all MIB objects under the control of the network management software are simultaneously acquired during startup of the network management software so the almost simultaneous flow of a large volume of SNMP packets in the LAN will not occur and along with a simultaneous reduction in the load on communications lines, the load on devices such as the printer and network board processing their SNMP packets will also become small. To accomplish this, windows allocated to individual network peripheral devices on a one to one basis and controlling the network device are utilized as device windows, and information to be displayed on the initial screen of the device window is acquired as the initial sheet and displayed. Device windows also acquire and display different sheet information on the device window when determined an entry has been made by the user requesting display of a different type of sheet information.

  • Patent number: 7675921
Abstract: This invention provides a technique for safely and readily managing a network device. To achieve this object, an authentication server (105) performs an authentication process by using a set of a login ID and password transmitted from a manager server apparatus (103), and transmits the authentication result to a multi-functional peripheral (102). The authentication server (105) also specifies a VLAN name corresponding to this set, and transmits the VLAN name to a DHCP server (106). The DHCP server (106) determines connection setting information corresponding to the VLAN name, and transmits the determined connection setting information to the multi-functional peripheral (102). The multi-functional peripheral (102) connects to VLAN 2 by using the obtained connection setting information.

  • Publication number: 20100034231
Abstract: A semiconductor laser, which emits a laser beam from an edge surface of an active layer (5), is provided with a protective film (20), arranged on the edge surface from which the laser beam is emitted, and formed of a single-layer or a multilayer dielectric film. Hydrogen concentration distribution in the protective film (20) is approximately flat. The active layer (5) is formed of a group-III nitride semiconductor including Ga as a constituent element. The protective film (20) is formed of at least a first protective film (21) that is in direct contact with an edge surface of the active layer (5), and a second protective film (22) that is in contact with the first protective film (21). A ratio of hydrogen concentration of the first protective film (21) with respect to hydrogen concentration of the second protective film (22) is not less than 0.5 and not more than 2.

  • Patent number: 7600018
Abstract: This invention relates to a method and apparatus for managing network devices, which allow the user to intuitively recognize errors that have occurred in network devices. When an error monitoring module (701) detects any error that has occurred in a network device, a corresponding URL address acquisition module (702) acquires a URL address corresponding to an error category. An electrical generation component generates electrical message data for error information, which contains the acquired URL address, and sends it to an electrical sending module (706). Since the user can access error information provided by an HTTP server module (708) by clicking the URL address described on the received electrical message once, he or she can intuitively recognize the error contents by simple operations.
