Abstract: The present invention relates to a disinfectant composition containing the following components (A) to (D): component (A): a zinc compound, component (B): a chelate compound represented by the following general formula (b1) or (b2), component (C): hydrogen peroxide or a peroxide that releases hydrogen peroxide in water, and component (D): an organic peroxy acid precursor that generates an organic peroxy acid by reacting with the component (C). According to the present invention, a disinfectant composition and a disinfecting method can be provided that enable the effective elimination of gram negative bacteria adhered to textile products, and particularly cotton products.
