  • Patent number: 5426752
Abstract: A method for allocating real pages larger than a conventional size to a plurality of virtual pages of the conventional size in a system including a real storage containing a plurality of real pages and a storage key for holding storage keys used for storage protection purposes of the real pages. The method includes the steps of (A) allocating one of plural split regions having the conventional size obtained by subdividing one of a plurality of real pages having a larger size equal to a value n being a positive integer larger than 1) times larger than the conventional size, to one virtual page having the conventional size (B) repeating step (A) so that split regions having the conventional size within the one real page and within other real pages having the larger size are allocated to virtual pages having the conventional size.

  • Patent number: 5418946
Abstract: When a retrieval condition designating unit designates "data to be retrieved" and "retrieval condition" as data on retrieval of a document, and a classification attribute designating unit designates a "component's name" as data on classification of the document, a structured document retrieving unit first retrieves a structured document group among a plurality of structured documents stored in a structured document storing unit on the basis of the designated "data to be retrieved" and "retrieval condition" and transfers the document group to a structured document classifying unit, which classifies the document group on the basis of the designated "component's name". The result of the classification is displayed on a display unit. Thus, by designating the components constituting a structured document by their component's names, a plurality of structured documents is retrieved and classified on a real time basis.

  • Patent number: 5369069
Abstract: A pillared clay possessing the ability to exchange cations is produced by a method which comprises heating a cation-exchange clay consisting of (1) silicate layers composed of octahedrons of alumina having part of the aluminum thereof substituted by magnesium or octahedrons of magnesia having part of the magnesium thereof substituted by lithium and tetrahedrons of silica and parallelly arranged in a state assuming negative electric charge and (2) exchangeable cations interposed between the silicate layers in a state retaining an electric charge balance with the negative electric charge of the silicate layers, thereby causing part of the exchangeable cations to be fixed in the silicate layers and inducing a decrease in the cation-exchange capacity of the clay, then cross-linking the interstices between the silicate layers of the clay, and thereafter causing liberation of the fixed cations.

  • Patent number: 5347150
Abstract: In an integrated circuit device using a plurality of different power supply voltages, the application of an input voltage exceeding the power supply voltages to an input/output circuit is prevented. When a p-type substrate is used, a plurality n-wells are formed to surround an integrated circuit region on a central portion of the substrate. When an n-type substrate is used, a plurality of p-wells are formed in the same manner. A predetermined power supply voltage is applied to each well to select transistors of the input/output buffer in accordance with the voltage level of an external voltage.

  • Patent number: 5335334
Abstract: A region comprising a plurality of real pages in a part of a real storage unit is provided with a first key storage unit having a plurality of key storage entries each corresponding to one of the plurality of real pages, while a second region comprising a plurality of real pages in the second part of the real storage unit is provided with a second key storage unit having a single key storage entry. When a real address designated by an instruction to be executed belongs to the first region, an entry corresponding to this address is accessed by a storage protection control circuit. When this address belongs to the second region, the second key storage unit is accessed irrespective of the address. Further, a key within the accessed key information is compared with a key on a program status word (PSW) allocated to a program to determine whether the execution of the instruction is permitted.

  • Patent number: 5311074
Abstract: A semiconductor integrated circuit device including: a large scale cell array; a through wiring passing through a first region within which the large scale cell array is formed; an input buffer connected to one end of the through wiring at the boundary between the first region and a second region within which the large scale cell array is not formed, the input buffer converting the level of a signal inputted from the second region to a smaller level and transmitting the signal of the smaller level to the first region; and an output buffer circuit connected to the other end of the through wiring at the boundary, the output buffer converting the level of the signal transmitted from the first region to a larger level and transmitting the signal of large level to the second region.

  • Patent number: 5293599
Abstract: A process for partially swapping real storage areas used by a program is utilized in a computer system which executes programs by multiprogramming under control of a virtual storage type operating system. A first portion of a real storage area, allocated to a program to be swapped out, remains allocated to that program while the contents of a second portion of the real storage area are saved in an auxiliary storage so that the second portion is deallocated from that program. The saved contents of the second portion stored in the auxiliary storage are loaded in the real storage when the program is to be swapped in.

  • Patent number: 5253039
Abstract: In the size measurement of steel sections, a pair of two-dimensional rangefinders and a pair of one-dimensional rangefinders are arranged so as to sandwich a steel section consisting of a pair of flange portions and a web portion in a widthwise direction of the flange portion and face to each other, whereby a vertical distance ranging from the two-dimensional rangefinder to the flange portion and a vertical distance ranging from the one-dimensional rangefinder to the web portion are measured, respectively to calculate a deviation at center, a flange width and a web thickness from the above measured values. In this case, a laser rangefinder is used as each of the two-dimensional rangefinder and one-dimensional rangefinder.

  • Patent number: 5214012
Abstract: An interlayer cross-linked smectite is produced by a method which includes the steps of preparing a smectite suspension containing a dissolved water-soluble macromolecular compound, adding a cationic hydroxide oligomer to the suspension thereby subjecting the exchangeable cation in the smectite to ion exchange, allowing the resultant smectite suspension to stand at a fixed temperature for a fixed time thereby allowing the cationic hydroxide oligomer of the smectite to age, separating a solid smectite from the resultant suspension, and heating the separated solid smectite. The interlayer interval of the produced smectite can be controlled by adjusting the amount of the cationic hydroxide oligomer.
