  • Publication number: 20160144475
Abstract: A grinding machine includes a wheel spindle stock in which a wheel spindle is rotatably provided. The wheel spindle moves between first and second spindles so that a third rotation axis of the wheel spindle moves in the direction perpendicular to first and second rotation axes on an XZ plane extending through the first and second rotation axes. The grinding wheel that is held by the wheel spindle grinds a first workpiece as the wheel spindle stock moves toward a first headstock, and grinds a second workpiece as the wheel spindle stock moves toward a second headstock.

  • Publication number: 20160136768
Abstract: A machining apparatus includes: a workpiece spindle having a retainer that retains a workpiece having a noncircular peripheral surface; an adjustment unit that adjusts a retaining force between the workpiece and the retainer; a phase determination member that can determine a phase of the workpiece; and a phase determination detection unit that detects completion of the phase determination. The retaining force is a retaining force for phase determination until the phase determination is completed, and the retaining force is switched to a retaining force for machining which is larger than the retaining force for phase determination after the phase determination is completed.

  • Patent number: 8851957
Abstract: A grinding method includes the steps of holding a workpiece by a pair of centering members of a pair of spindle equipment, shifting two centering members to one side of a spindle rotational axis, facing a grinding wheel at the other side to the other end portion of the workpiece, grinding the other end portion of the workpiece by the grinding wheel at the other side by rotating a driving pin of the spindle equipment at one side, retracting the grinding wheel at other side and stopping the rotation of the driving pin at one side and also shifting two centering members to the other side of the spindle rotational axis, facing a grinding wheel at one side to one end portion of the workpiece, and grinding one end portion of the workpiece by the grinding wheel at one side by rotating a driving pin of the spindle equipment at the other side.

  • Publication number: 20110300777
Abstract: It is an object of the present invention to provide a grinding method of a multifunction grinding machine having no need to exchange one end portion to the other end portion of a workpiece and having a more simple construction to grind both of one and the other end portions.

  • Patent number: 6729936
Abstract: An apparatus for measuring a circularity deviation of a cylinder of an object intended to be integrally rotated about a rotation axis, the cylinder being eccentric as either intended or not with the rotation axis, the apparatus includes a measuring device, a motion controlling mechanism, and a circularity deviation calculating device. The measuring device is adapted to measure a circumferential surface of the cylinder at each measuring point “p” thereon in a three-point contact method. The motion controlling mechanism is configured to permit the measuring device to be moved along a circumference of the cylinder, which circumference lays on a cross section of the cylinder perpendicular to the rotation axis, in contact with the circumferential surface of the cylinder, during rotation of the cylinder about the rotation axis.

  • Patent number: 5228241
Abstract: A machine for grinding a cylindrical surface and the end surface of a shoulder portion, both formed on a workpiece, using an angular grinding wheel. The end surface is perpendicular to the cylindrical surface. The grinding wheel has a first outer surface parallel to the axis of the workpiece and a second outer surface perpendicular to the first outer surface. The first outer surface has a cylinder-grinding parallel surface and a cylinder-grinding tilted surface. The parallel surface has a generatrix parallel to the generatrix of the cylindrical surface to be ground. The tilted surface is continuous with the parallel surface and has a generatrix tilted away from the generatrix of the cylindrical surface. The second outer surface has a shoulder-grinding parallel surface and a shoulder-grinding tilted surface continuous with this parallel surface. The shoulder-grinding parallel surface has a generatrix parallel to the end surface of the shoulder portion.

  • Patent number: 5183026
Abstract: A grinding machine having an angular type grinding wheel and a dressing apparatus therefor. The grinding wheel is formed with first and second grinding surfaces usable for grinding a cylindrical surface and shoulder end surface of a workpiece, respectively, and first and second reference surfaces parallel to the first and second grinding surfaces, respectively. The positions of the first and second reference surfaces and the first and second grinding surfaces are detected with touch bars before each dressing operation so as to obtain a first distance between the first grinding surface and first reference surface, and a second distance between the second grinding surface and second reference surface. After that, a first dressing amount for dressing the first grinding surface and a second dressing amount for dressing the second grinding surface are so determined that the first distance and the second distance would have a predetermined constant relationship after dressing operation.
